Surgeon Testimonial

David Dyer, M.D.
I went to Nashville to hear Dr Dyer speak on the Lap Band, Gastric Bypass, and the Gastric Sleeve surgeries. He was awesome! I know this man is a genius in the OR...I seen some of his handywork.Dr Dyer and Centennial Hospital as a whole stresses one fact that nmade me choose them for my bariatric surgery:You are their patient for the rest of your life! This stresses just how much they do care about us! I am excited for my journey to begin.rnThere wasn't anything I didn't like about Dr Dyer. He strictly emphasizes aftercare with diet, exercise, and making sure your appointments are kept with the center. Risks of surgery use to scare me,but when Dr Dyer said that what our disabilities are along with the weight we carry-bypass is nothing!overall, if I ahd to rate this man on a 1-10 score-he is a definate 10!!!! And what is greater? Surgical competence or bedside manner? Neither if the doctor has no clue what he is doing. This man knows his stuff-and Im ready and trusting that God will use this man to help me soon!rnUPDATE...........................rnI have been working on my insurance company and doctors offices since I returned from Nashville in February.Last Tuesday I recieved an email saying I WAS APPROVED FOR SURGERY!!!!!!! I went for my pre-op on Friday the 18th(also my b-day)and I am scheduled for the 6th day of May!My new life begins!!!!!!

My name is Paula, and I am a 45 year old Wife, Mother, and Nana from Rogersville, Tennessee. I have wanted WLS for over 3 years now,but due to insufficient insurance coverage, I could not afford it. One night as I was surfing the web, I came across Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity. It was tehre I found out about Dr.David Dyer and his staff. I went to the seminar, and after that it seemed as if God did the rest! I am so happy and looking forward to my RNY on the 6th of May.My children are definately against it because they think it will hurt me. I feel like if I stay the weight I am with all of my co-morbidities, I will not live to see my 11 year old graduate high school. I really believe that if God brings you to something, he will bring you through it. Pray for me,as my goals of becoming a graduate from the University Of Phoenix Bachelors Program in 2009 becomes more of a reality, and my life becomes more of a reality in the future!

Rounding the corner

It has been so long, and I do apologize, but I am to the point just now that I really want to post! As of today I have lost almost 70 pounds since my surgery in May this year.It has been a struggle for me,and I have had many remorses along the way,but as I am able to get in more liquids and proteins,I don't find myself wishing I was graveyard material.I see Dr Dyer in November....hopefully he will be pleased instead of disappointed in me like he was this past August.I truly do not regret my surgery, just the way I failed to follow up on the after effects. For those who have supported me I thank you...and for all of my OH friends...MUAH******From Miss Paula

Long Time Coming!
on June 15, 2008 12:28 am
Sorry for the long time span folks, but I have been one sick chick! I have been in the hospital for dehydration and an infection in my kidneys due to****you guessed it! LACK OF HYDRATION!!!! I cannot , no matter what I try to do,get in 80 ounces of water or liquids, and forget the protein. Good news I am down almost 30 pounds, which makes me a bit happier, but after reading most blogs here, I see I am a bit of an underachiever... Lots of people at 5-6weeks out are double my weight loss(sigh).
I am now on solid foods, which doesn't do me much good, as nausea is my friend (it seems)for life.I cannot eat anything without the nausea.I wonder sometimes if it will ever go away, but people tell me that it DOES get better, and it will pass.
I am now off the diabetes meds, thyroid meds, and high blood pressure meds....sooooo Thankful!!!!!
I wake up just about daily and wonder what in sam heck I have done to myself....wheres MY energy? When am I going to see my weight vanish like everyone elses? I have met and made some great friends here, and for that I am so grateful! Please keep me in your prayers, because I KNOW I haven't done everything right, even slipped a little to keep things down...but I still know Ill make it because God led me to it.I have the BEST surgeon in the world-and I know one day I will say-IT WAS WORTH IT!!!!!
