The cross addiction issues begin.

Nov 09, 2011

I knew this would happen since I've already had shopping addiction issues to begin with. You don't end up in as much credit card debt as I am in without having some sort of malfunction upstairs. I admitted the problem to myself a few months ago before any of this happened and while I was not dieting but admitting you have a problem and dealing with it are two completely different things as many of us know.

Now that I am dieting and I cannot eat for satisfaction or for comfort I am turning to shopping to give me little thrills. It started off innocently, with something I actually needed. There was a daily deal with a $50 George Foreman grill with the price slashed to $19.99 for one day only. Since this will be useful for after surgery I simply had to have it. THEN someone posted on Facebook (btw, you can add me at facebook.com/JenTravelsFar) about how the website Fckh8.com was having a really good tee shirt sale. I think most of their profits go to a bunch of different LGBT charities and I'm all for their compaign so I bought a "Born This Way" tee in a size smaller than I am now so I have something to strive for. I had a rewards card for Disney that I got from using my debit card, I used the entire amount on Disneystore.com. You don't need to know how much stuff I got.

The real problem item that I got and totally rationalized is.. an iPad2. Do you know how I rationalized this? I bought it so I won't be bored in the hospital during my stay after surgery. WHAT. THE. HECK?

Oh, and I've decided that I'm going to be going on the OH cruise as well. I may have found a travel buddy, someone from the OH community who is actually having her surgery today by Dr. Buchin so I want to wish her luck and a speedy recovery! I'll end on that positive note instead, and continue to beat myself up in my head!
