What a difference
on August 6, 2008 12:43 pm
The loss of 80 pounds makes.  I know I haven't been good about keeeping up my blog and I am sorry if anyone has noticed.  I will give everyone a run down now in what has happened these last 7 months.  I started walking about 2 weeks after surgery short distances at first then by March I was walking 4 miles in 40-45 minutes.  I then decided that I should join a gym of some sort.  So March 17 I joind "Slender You"  they have regular weighted gym machines for circuit training and also motorized toning beds.  Istarted losing inches fast it seemed and the weight was coming off as well.  I started to run on the treadmill and found that I really liked it so June 1st I did my first 5K race and came in 3rd for my age division (50-54 yr olds) I was absoulutly shocked, so I went home after the race a signed up for another one the end of June and came in 2nd in age division on that one.  July I didn't do any races cause I was having problems with this rash I couldn't get rid of, come to find out I had poison ivy and scabies.  WTH I got scabies from I don;t know , but let me tell you they are itchy.  I am now over the scabies and am doing another race Aug 9.  I am also trying to decide if I have a 10k race in me.  there is one the beginning of Ocotber that I would like to do.  I think I am just going to go for it like I did with the 5K and see what happens, I just want to finish it.  So now I ahve everyone updated on my road to a new me.  Oh the most exciting thing that happened was that I was asked to be in a infomercial for Slender You.  I did do it and I don't know yet when it will air.  I do know that it will be on the Oxygen Network which is bad cause I don;t get that station.  I'm sure I can get someone to tape it for me.  Well that is all for now.  Take Care everyone .

Tomorrow is my Birthday
on January 20, 2008 12:00 am
Well it is finally here, I can't believe it.  I thought it would never come.  I am nervous, but not about the surgery, about what comes after the surgery.  I know it is going to be a little hard but I am up for it. I have done all my prep work and have my bag all packed now I just got to get my head to stop thinking and relax.  I am going to try to get some sleep but I don;t think I will get much.  I am afraid I won;t here my alarm and not get up in time to get to the hospital.  By this time tomorrow night I will be a new person, so watch out world her I come.

Pre-op Appointment
on January 14, 2008 8:29 pm
Well I did my preop at the hospital today.  I also had my appt with the Nut.  I got samples of unjury protien powder from the Nut and also some vitamins.  That appt went pretty good it was about an hour.  Then I went to the hospital and that took forever, they were behind to begin with then I had to have a EKG, Chest Xray, Lab work, Anestesia consult and Respotoray.  We finally left the hosptial about 2:30 after being there since 8:30.  Oh well it is all over now, just have towait til next Monday Jan 21, 6:00 am then my real adventure will start or should I say my rebirth.

Pre-op Surgeon Visit
on January 9, 2008 8:24 pm
Well today my hubby and I had my last preop visit before surgery.  I got a few questions answered by the doctor, the rest I will have to wait for the Nut appt. next Monday (Jan 14).  I really feel confident with my surgeon, but I am still nervous.  I really wish I could snap my fingers and the surgery would be over with and I would be home.  I know that everything will be fine but I still am nervous.

My Story

My story where oh where to begin...Hum....  Well I am 53 and have been married to my best friend 27 years. We have 2 grandsons back in NY that we miss terribly . We have traveled some as my hubby was in the Army for 28 years.  We retired in 2002 and spent winters in Florida because that was were we thought we wanted to be,  but we found out that it wasn't. We moved to Cosby in Nov 2006 and are loving it.
As far as my weight goes I have been over weight for most of my adult life.  I have tried MANY diets, diet pills and weight loss programs only to have the weight come back that I worked so hard to lose. I finially got tried of all that and thought there has to be something out there to help guide me that is when I started researching WLS.  I have had a couple friends that has the surgery many years ago, one that had good results  and one that didn't do very well.  So now I am going to have the surgery and I am going to be a success story.
