Hi my name is Melissa. I am currently waiting to get Lap-Band surgery. I have to do 2 months of classes and I will be getting surgery in about 2 1/2-3 months. I am very excited but at the same time, extremely nervous. I have already had my consultation and durring the next couple months I will just be preparing for the surgery and getting all the labs and bp under control. I have been over weight since high school and am currently the heaviest that I have ever been. I am 5'2 and have 170 lbs to loose. I have tried everything you can think of to loose weight and have also spent a lot of money doing so. Recently my blood pressure has been a little high and I use to always run low. Also my knees feel like they just cant take anymore weight. I cant wait until I can start loosing weight and feeling better about myself.
Melissa's WLS Journey
Here I will post updates and my journey to WLS

1st Step

Well today was my first WLS class. It was snowing so bad here and it took me forever to get there but luckily i was pretty much on time. Class tonight was a little rushed since we started late but I thought it was a good start to the 7 weeks to come. Everyone was very nice and I felt comfortable. All night I have been reading through my first WLS packet of info. I have a lot of changes to make in my life to prepare myself for surgery, but I am very excited to be on my way to a better me and a better life... One thing I have been thinking seriously about is changing from the LapBand surg. to RNY. Ultimatley this will be a choice best made with my Dr's and surgon but I have been doing so much research on both surgeries and am starting to lean more towards RNY. I am sure the classes will help me through this decision also.. Well anyway tomorrow I am going to go to the gym to get a head start on my journey and the rest of this week I will be making small changes in my diet :) No more caffine or carbinated drinks. I also have to cut out drinks with calories. Some of the changes will be difficult at first but I just want to do everything that I can to make the surg. as successful as possible.
