Surgeon Testimonial

Brenda Cacucci, M.D.
My first impression of her was that she really cared about me, my health, and well being. Her office staff has been wonderful about everything. Overall Dr. Cacucci has been superb. They are very good about returning after hours calls and dealing with you as a person not just a number. Her bedside manner is awesome and i have nothing but kudos for her and all her staff.

My Story

Well...where do I begin?
I have been heavy back as far as I can remember.  I was ok until right after 1st grade.  I gradually started putting weight on after that.  I still remember my 5th grade teacher telling me to keep my tummy sucked in so the other kids didnt make fun of me!!!!  Funny though, she is my favorite teacher!!
I remember losing some weight during 8th grade....but soon met my husband, and developed endometriosis, and between the two...the weight quickly found its way back!!!!
I have tried every diet I vcould think of....and the only one I got anywhere with was Weight Watchers...lost about 30 pounds and guess what...gained 60 back when I fell off that wagon!!!!!
I started looking into WLS in the summer of  2005 when a close friend of mine had hers done.  I found out what was needed and started my process.  Submitted my paperwork in July 2005 and was quickly denied.  Insurance requires that you have 18 months of Physician supervised weight loss program.  I had been in Weight Watchers for well over that, but my insurance did not consider WW to be a weight loss program....and even though the physician knew I was doing it...I needed to have 18 monthly weigh ins and "talks" with him.  So I said okies..that is what I will do...I will return in 18 months.
Well needles  to say...I would lose and gain.....and in the ned I ended up gaining 20 pounds over the 18 months.  My physician, who has never been over weight, and lives on Diet Coke, said I would be denied and would have to start all over again!!!!  Well my paperwork was submitted Feb. 28 2007...and my approval came through on March 7, 2007!!!!
I then started the process of getting all my pre-op appointments scheduled...along with my surgery date!!!!
they wanted it as soon as April 17th....but we some other things that were already scheduled....So May 8th it was.
And from there starts my journey to the new healther, happier me!!!!
