Christy's fiance, James, called around 3 o'clock and reported that surgery went well. They were about to get Christy out of bed for her first walk. Welcome Christy to the loser's bench.

67 lbs and 16 weeks...7/11/07
on July 11, 2007 9:37 am
I am 16 weeks out now and I have lost 67 lbs! I can't believe its real!

I haven't had many problems but I did experience the dumping syndrome once. Oh that was horrible! My heart raced and I got really sweatty and then sick. Then I went to bed. It lasted for about 4 hours! I had eaten Brazilian nuts, 4 of them. I did not expect to dump off of nuts. Any one else experience this?

Anyway, I am so excited now that I had this surgery and would go through it again if I had to.

4/28/07 almost 6 wks post op!
on April 28, 2007 10:32 am
I will be six wks out on wed. and I am FINALLY getting excited about having the surgery. I was in a funk for what seems like forever! For the first few weeks especially, I had a hard time wanting to see or talk to anybody. After I returned to work, I started to feel a little better but still not very happy about the surgery. Anyway, I am so much better now!

I am excited about my wieght loss so far. I have lost 29 lbs since surgery and a total of 37 since the start of the pre-op diet! I can't believe it! I did have a two week stall which was very frustrating but I get lots of info from this message board (I lurk alot) and the wonderful people on here so, I knew it was normal. I just waited it out and I have lost 13 lbs since last Monday!

I am just getting ready to start soft solids and I am counting the days (17) until I can have REAL food. I have tolerated everything I have tried but I eat alot of the same things. I need ideas! Anyone have any?

I went to my 2 week post op today and I am excited! I have lost 14 lbs since the surgery and a total of 24 lbs since I started the pre op diet! Another wonderful thing is, I get to stop the heparin shots!! I think I may be more excited about that than the weight loss. So far everything is good and I finally get to start on pureed foods which is another plus! I did have a case of the blues and the "why in the world did I do this?" thoughts for a while but that is getting better. I am starting to get excited about having had the surgery.

3-11-07  Well my surgery  is 9 days away! I have mixed emotions . I am really excited to start my new life and to join the loser's bench.  At the same time, I am still scared.  I want to thank everybody on here for your words of support and encouragement. I have needed it so badly!! Have a great day!

surgery date changed
on December 12, 2006 9:19 am
12/11/06-Well, I changed my date for many reasons. Fear was the biggest reason. I feel like I need more time to feel completely comfortable with having the surgey. I don't feel physically or mentally ready to have it done so soon. Has anybody had the same fear issues?

My Story

12/3/06

My name is Christy Lee. I am 34 years old and I live in Corpus Christi, Texas. I decided to have WLS because I have been "obese" for as long as I can remember and I have tried every diet you can think of. The most succesful (if you can call it that) was weight watchers. I lost 60lbs in about 5 1/2 months but, I gained it all back plus about another 70 lbs. over the last 5 years. I first became interested in having WLS about 3 years ago but had problems with the insurance coverage. I tried again in Sept of 05' and chickened out. Since Sept. of 05', I have gained at least 45 lbs. which leads me to now. I am a month out from having the surgery and I am TERRIFIED. I am having a hard time dealing with the fear of the possible complications of the surgery and have come very close to backing out again! My surgey is scheduled for 1/4/07.
