Surgeon Testimonial

Paul Kemmeter
Can't say enough about Dr. Kemmeter and the staff at Grand Health Partners in Grand Rapids, MI. He is such a great person and an excellent surgeon and very thorough in everything. The Bariatric program at GHP is very structured and complete. All aspects of care are done there as well as all testing. They have their own nutritionists, exercise physiologist, psych evals, and all foods needed for pre- and post-op. They do all their own endoscopy, sleep studies, gall bladder scans, etc. They have a very strong emphasis on after-care and are not there just to do your surgery and then let you go. rnI would definitely rate Dr. K as a 10 out of 10!

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
Endless diets over the last 40 years. I can lose weight but cannot keep it off. I had finally gotten to the point of not even being able to make myself diet anymore because I knew I would fail at some point. I had thought about bariatric surgery for years and finally decided to do it.

Merry Christmas! What a great day it has been! Kind of low on sleep as I worked last night 11-7 and got very little sleep today. Had everyone over for Christmas tonight and fixed a lot of food. Ham and scalloped potatoes and cheese broccoli casserole. Rolls, relish tray, chips with hot cheese dip, chips with hot spinach/artichoke dip, and all kinds of snacks and cookies, which my daughters brought. MIL brought a jello salad(she is 90 years old and my FIL is 86 and they still go everywhere)! I ate way too much crap in the past 24 hours and am surprised I don't feel like crap!
This year Santa brought me:
Jewelry box
Lots of clothes
Jewelry
New Samsung range with convection oven-stainless
New stainless over-the-range microwave
$100 cash
Beautiful hand embroidered linen doily thing my daughter made and I have displayed in my china cabinet hanging over the edge of the shelf and with my Hall blue teapot setting on it. This was one of my favorite gifts this year! She does gorgeous minutely detailed embroidery work.
And the best gift of all-214 lbs. gone and feeling fantastic!

Time for a December post since the month will soon be past already. Can't believe it is this close to Christmas! . I have been very busy with Christmas shopping lately, but am pretty much done now.
What a difference a year makes. This Christmas I am a normal weight for I think the first time in my life, and I am loving it. I am working on maintaining now, and although I was down a pound this morning, that was the first loss in about 3 weeks. I could live with maybe 5 lbs. more lost, but don't want to go below 150 lbs. I am very curious to see what the next 12 months will bring.
I am having surgery on the 31st to repair my slightly leaky old lady bladder, so not much of a fun New Year for me, I guess. It is outpatient, and I only need a couple of days off work, so hopefully it is no big deal. I am also looking at a possible hysterectomy after the first of the year sometime. But my GYN says he does those laparoscopically now , and it is also an outpt. procedure with only a 1 week recovery time! I'll believe that when I see it!
But I am thankful that I feel fantastic and have tons of energy, although I need to channel this energy to the treadmill and away from shopping!
