Robert Marvin, M.D. My first impression of Dr. Marvin was "professional". During the seminar he was friendly and patient, answering all my questions, most of the time before I asked them. I am confident that I have picked the right surgeon to perform my gastric bypass.
Michael,
Wishing you the best
of luck tomorrow on
your big day. I am
very excited for you
to begin this great
journey. Lots of
hugs and prayers
headed you way.
Make sure to come
back on the Texas
board often, as we
all want to share in
your journey.
Michael,
You are about to
emabrk on a
wonderful,
beautiful, crazy,
sometimes mixed up
ride! Best wishes
tomorrow and I will
call your cell phone
for updates.
Angie
Michael.....You are
about to go on the
best journey of your
life. This journey
is SOOO AMAZING
!!!!! You will hit
stumbling blocks
somewhere along the
road but know that
each and everyone of
us will be here to
lead you on to
success. You too
will soon join us on
the loosers bench
!!!! Don't think
that if you fall we
won't be far behind
to help you
up.....all you have
to do is ask us for
help. Please do so
too. Don't try to
walk this journey
alone...because
trust me....that is
NOT a easy road to
walk by yourself.
Ask for help or
advice when needed
but please take
everything that you
get with a grain of
salt since all of
our surgeon's
criteria are totally
differant. But
know that we will be
with you along your
way and so will GOD.
Good luck to a new
healthier you in the
future. And
remember you will
NEVER be alone in
your journey as long
as you stay here on
the TMB. Good luck
and GOD bless you
!!!!
Hugs and Blessings

UGH Well, I spent all day in Houston today. I went to my surgeons office to talk to the medical doctor. They seem to be overly cautious about just about everything. The doctor asked me if I ever get heartburn. I stated that I do when I eat mexican food or sausage. They have now scheduled an endoscopy two weeks from now. I couldn't believe it. Doesn't everyone get heartburn when they eat spicy food? They also scheduled me to see a Hemotologist on the same day. That one I understood due to the fact that I have systemic lupus and my blood is hypercoagulable. The office did something that really confused me though...I had to pay a 25 dollar co-pay to see the doctor. But they also charged another 25 dollar co-pay to have the H-p something bacteria checked. You know...blowing into that bag. I have always been under the impression that when you go see a specialist you pay your co-pay and then the insurance company covers 100% of ANYTHING thats done to you there...does this sound right to you guys?
After seeing the MD in my surgeons office I went to see a cardiologist due to my heart attack 4 years ago. They did a stress test and everything!! It was cool and they gave me a clean bill of health. They certified me for surgery.
After seeing the Cardiologist I went to see the Pulmonologist due to my asthma and sleep apnea. ANOTHER CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH. They certified me for surgery.
Now all I have left is the stupid endoscopy and the hemotologist. Can't wait to get that over with.
I wish May 5th would get here already!!!

Hey Michael,
I also used Dr. Marvin. I LOVED him. I will tell you that I had SOME of the same experiences when I went to OSS...BUT, I did have to pay only one co-paywhen I went in for my h-pylori test. I totally understand you being frustrated...I had been cleared by ALL of the same specialists except the hematologist. I didn't have to go see one. They told me ONE WEEK before my surgery date that I had to have an endoscopy done as well. I had NEVER complained or answered yes to any of the heartburn/GURD questions. I went and had it done and they said I had gastric erosion. I found out 2 days before my first surgery date that I couldn't have the surgery for at least 6 weeks and during that 6 weeks I had to take Nexium and HOPE the ulcer went away. I was very upset not only with the results but the way the office handled it. My original date was 11/15/07...I finally had my surgery on 1/8/08 and I've lost 67 lbs. I had the same surgery you are having. I wouldn't undo it for anything in the world!!
Do you know that Dr. Marvin isn't practicing out of Obesity Surgery Specialists any longer? He has his own practice (he always has). If you want his #, let me know and I will pass it on to you.
I wish you the absolute BEST with your new journey and all of the hoops you are having to jump through are all worth it! If you ever need to vent, feel free to email me...ahirsch02@gmail.com.
Good Luck!!
