Surgeon Testimonial

Charles Finley
Dr. Finley is very knowledgeable and was very detail in his description of the surgery. He completely put me at ease and made me feel comfortable with him from the first handshake. The staff is the best at his office. They are very encouraging and helpful as well as extremely knowledgable.

My Story

My story is similar to most people on here. I am a tall female (5"11.5) and come from a family that thrives on eating and solving all issues over food. I guess I became caught up in that as everyone and I do mean everyone, is overweight in my family! I gave birth to a beautiful daughter 11 years ago and that is when my struggles with diet and food became an issue. I had always had a high metabolism but it seemed that I lost it while being pregnant or giving birth ( I know this isn't medically possible!). Anyway while pregnant I got a divorce and food became my comforter; my lover! Lol.....With that said I have struggle for years to get back to my pre-baby weight and never reached that as a goal. I am very active, I play Kickball, exercise a couple of times a week, but I guess my exercise is not in line with my food intake.

I have not been able to stay successfully under 190 for more than 6 months. I always crashed dieted, used Dr's weight-loss and other means-sparing no expense or torture to my body, but without much success. I needed something drastic to help me change my eating habits and I started researching gastric bypass. Several of my close friends had the procedure done and never had any complications. They began looking and feeling great about themselves and this is where I want to be.

So I started researching more until I got up the nerves to go see Dr. Finley whom I was referred to by two of my coworkers whom were is patients. Dr. Finley initially told me he doubted I would be approved, not in a negative way, but that his office would try their best. My BMI was low-36.7. He wanted to be certain I was not doing it for cosmetic reasons. Well, I think its a little bit of that and the want to be healthy. I decided RNY was the way to go for me because I needed a shock, I needed to have the dumping factor there to remind me of what the ultimate goal is (Me getting and staying healthy with the perk of looking great).

It took a little over a week to get my approval. They said my employer was very conservative with insurance benefits coverage. I started this process in January going to the Dr's, doing labs, sleep studies, all while in Grad school and raising a child and our dog! I have a very demanding role at my job, so this is difficult most times. But I decided to do me and I have not looked back since. I only had doubts due to surgery, but I am ready to reap huge rewards and lose this weight. I am 100 pounds over weight! I have never had trouble attracting or keeping men in my life, but I think I was going about it the wrong way......Now I am dedicated to serving my God and living my life in accordance with that dedication, something I did 15 years ago, but kinda got sidetracked along the way.

RNY is a step in the right direction for me!!!

This is the first time in my life that I have ever wanted to be a loser....I am ready to ride that losers bench!
