Home from surgery . . .
on August 11, 2007 2:39 pm
. . . and feeling pretty good. Sore and groggy, but good. Everything went very smooth. The nurses had some trouble getting my IV started so the anesthesiologist, Dr. Wagner, started it himself. My surgeon, Dr. Ray,  said a sweet prayer before we went into surgery.
I woke up in recovery fine. Stayed there for about an hour, then went to the next room in a great reclining chair where Ron could come and sit with me. They gave me some much needed and wanted ice chips - God, they were good. I had no problem swallowing and keeping water down. Yeah! After about an hour I went to the bathroom and then was discharged.
Off to take some liquid pain meds and get some rest now.

It's hard to believe that surgery day is finally here! I have been researching this surgery for over a year.
My surgery is scheduled for 7:30 am - first one of the day! I don't have tos tay overnight so I should be home by early afternoon. I am excited. Ron took some before pictures for me.
So Ron and I are off to the hospital!

My Story

Hello!

Today is Saturday, March 10th and I am fat. Morbidly obese they call it. Damn! How I hate that word - obese! But, there, I said it. I see it when I look in the mirror, I know it. And yes, I am ready to do something about it. I have tried every diet in the past, as all of us have. WW, TOPS, Jenny Craig, and Phen/Fen that was the best - I've tried them all. I've lost weight with them all too, but eventually gained it all back plus more. The story of my life.

I've been researching the  band for over a year now. I've had my first appt with my surgeon. Dr. Jonathan Ray, in Maryville, TN. I had all the required pre op tests; sleep study, upper gi, ultrasound, egk and numerous blood tests. That was all done on Thur, 2/22/07. Today is 3/10/07 and I am recovering from haveing my gall bladder out on Monday (3/5). Go figure, it couldn't wait so I could have them out at the same time! lol. Oh well, I'm recovering nicely. Actually it's giving me a taste of the recovery period I'll have with the lap band. Same surgeon is doing it.

I am so ready for the lap band. I need this tool to help me. And let me tell you, reading everyone's posts and profile's is very helpful and inspiring.

I am a mother of a 14 year old son, Evan and am married to my childhood sweetheart, Ron. He is the love of my life and very supportive in my decision to have the lap band. I need to be around for a long time to come.

So I will keep you updated on my progress.
