I made my deposit to Dr. Joya yesterday and received my airline confirmation!  Next, I plan to make an appt. with a local therapist that has also had weight loss surgery and attend my first support group meeting next month.  I guess I need to call my primary care physician and see if he can refer me to a nutritionist as well.  So much to do and so little time!!!  I also sing in a Sweet Adelines chorus and we have 2 competitions coming up at the end of March and beginning of April, on top of my baby's 1st birthday and my 4 year old's birthday party.  I ordered a before and after starter kit from bariatriceating.com so that I can sample some different protien drinks and vitamin supplements.

I am just a couple of short months away from my Lap RNY with Dr. Joya.  I am so excited about this weight loss journey and I can't wait to go!  My Mom has agreed to go with me, and Stacy is going to take vacation and stay here with the kids.  Now I need to get all of my ducks in a row and get my down payment paid, my financing in order, start seeing a therapist for my head issues and attend a support group meeting.  I'm not looking forward to starting the liquid pre-op diet, but I am committed to doing whatever it takes to be successful :)

My Story

My name is Brooke, and I am a 38 year old homemaker and mother of 5 beautiful children; 3 girls and 2 boys.  I had Lap RNY with Dr. Joya in Puerto Vallarta on April 20th, 2007 and lost 108 pounds.  I had extensive plastic surgery in the 3 years following wls to remove the loose skin from my rapid weight loss.  At 4 years post-op we decided to have another baby!  It has been an incredibly wild ride, one full of intense learning, milestones, excitement, but most of all, enjoying my amazing new body and the life that I now have!
