Dominick Artuso, M.D. I first met Dr. Artuso about a year ago. He had done my cousin's bypass 6 years ago and she told me how wonderful he is. When I met him I knew he was the doctor for me. As I started the process for insurance approval his staff was right there for me. Explaining and helping every step of the way. I have nothing but good things to say about his staff, they're the best! After surgery I had a small anesthesia complication but Dr. Artuso was all over it. He came to see me everyday to make sure I was okay. He has a great bedside manner and you can tell he truly cares for his patients. He ended up keeping me in the hospital for an extra day and sending me home on Easter. Dr. Artuso came in early Easter morning to make sure I was released so I could be home with my 2 little boys and the rest of my family for Easter. I highly recommend Dr. Artuso not only for his surgical skills but for his caring bedside manner and for truly being there for his patients. Thank you Dr. Artuso for everything you have done for me!

5/17 - So Much Fun! Well, we returned home today from the Great Wolf Lodge here in the Poconos and it was a blast. The boys had no idea we were going and were totally surprised. What a great place to visit!
Would I have gone on the waterslides before the surgery??? No way! I'd be too embarrassed. Did I go on them this weekend? Sure did and had a blast. It was so much fun just enjoying myself with my family. It was funny because my husband says he sees a difference in my confidence level and I think he's right. I have to say I wasn't very self aware and didn't focus on my weight. Although I have to say it's still hard to imagine myself thinner. I really had no problems climbing up all the stairs and plus I had to carry a double tube at the same time. I definitely had an arm and leg workout this weekend. I felt the burn and it felt good.
I went on tons of things with Nicholas & Michael. It was almost like my weight didn't matter. The mental part of this process is very interesting.
We ate out a few times and I think I did really well. Yesterday at dinner I had chicken breast. This morning I had 1/3 of an egg white omelet with cheese and 2 bites of potatoes. For dinner tonight 3/4 of a crab cake. I tried to stick with high proteins for the most part. Now, I have to think when I order my meals and I'm really happy that I'm aware of what I'm putting in my mouth.
So all in all, it was a great trip and now I really can't wait to go on our cruise in July. I can only imagine how much I'm going to lose between now and then.
