Surgeon Testimonial

B. Dean McDaniel
Dr. McDaniel and Dr. Ron were awesome! Dr. Ron walked me over to the hospital and I felt really happy to receive such attention.rnrnThey both came by to see me and I was glad to see familiar faces. The nurses were great and I thank each and everyone of them for being so efficient.

2 weeks post-op appt
on June 20, 2008 7:12 am

I went to see Dr. McDaniel and he had great news for me.  My glucose levels are looking good so I won't need to go back to any of my meds.

I weighed in at 239 lbs so 21 lbs are gone!  I'm so excited that I'm losing weight and inches.

I need to drink more water--about a gallon a day.  I will try to get that much water in.

I went to the doc today
on June 6, 2008 10:52 am
Today I went to the doc so he could look at my right arm.  I had been feeling my arm very warm, warmer than my left so I wanted to go get it looked at.  It was also very sore and it hurt alot.

Dr. McDaniel and Dr. Ron were in CC so I was seen by Dr. Hamilton.  He seemed really nice and he gave me a scrip for an antiobiotic.  I need to take that for a week.  He made me feel better when he said that it wasn't likely that I had a clot or anything like that.  He thought it was more of an infiltration problem.

Well, glad that's out of the way.  Today was my first day to use gas x strips and they are working quite well.  I felt more gas today because I started my period.  I know TMI, but I'm keeping this for reference.

When I was weighed today, the scale showed 10 lbs less than my pre-op visit.  So I'm well on my way!  How awesome is that?!

June 5, 2008--I feel better today.
on June 5, 2008 2:53 pm

Today, I was up by 5 a.m. and I started to drink my H2O and began to walk.  I feel so much better and the nausea is not so bad.  I'm learning how big my sips need to be so I don't feel like I have something stuck.

I had my first bowel movement today due to the contrast that I had done before I came home.

I haven't felt hungry and I'm having to drink protein "shots."  Well, I'm still on the Full liquid diet and things seem to be going well.

Geez, what did I do?!
on June 4, 2008 5:28 pm

I went in yesterday for surgery at 8:00 a.m. Everything was well up to the point where I was sent to recovery.  I was so out of it and I had alot of nausea.  For the most part, yesterday was horrible but today not so bad.

My insurance only allowed me to stay in the hospital for 23 hours, so I was out today.  Today, I felt better.  I didn't have as much nausea and I was able to walk a lot more and I'm so glad about that.

I finally on the "other side" but I still need to get used to things.  Keeping hydrated is a little difficult since before I didn't drink as much water.

Thanks for all the prayers and God bless y'all!

The night before...
on June 2, 2008 9:18 pm
Well, today was an all liquid diet for me and it wasn't as bad as I though it would be.  I went to buy some protein shakes and other things I will need when I come home.  I am calm and feel confident that this surgery will be a success.

Today, my grandmother was hospitalized and they fear she may have colon cancer.  I am sad because I can't be there with her but I'm with her through prayer.  I also have talked to her several times today and I thank God that she sounds good and doesn't feel any pain.

Well, I'm going to bed now.  I will be waking up at 6 a.m. to get ready and then take my mom to chemo and drive to the doc's office.  My dad will be there a little later.  Well, please keep me in your prayers and I'll post as soon as I can.
