Surgeon Testimonial

Craig Ferrara
I first saw Dr. Ferrara was at a seminar. He was very nice and professional. He answered all my questions without making me feel dumb. Soon as the seminar was over, I knew that was my surgeon! The office staff has been amazing so far. Several people at the office have actually had surgery, so it made me feel more comfortable knowing that! Dr. Ferrara actually operated on his partner, Dr. Adam Smith a few years ago. Dr. Smith was very nice too. He had time to sit and talk to me as a person as well as a patient. I'm getting ready to have surgery in two weeks, and I will keep this updated on my experiences.

So now I have had my surgery. Everything went great. Dr. Smith and Dr. Ferrera both performed my surgery together and they both came and talk to me before my surgery, and made me very comfortable. I think I made a great decision in choosing a surgeon. I wouldn't have had it any other way!! I have a post-op appointment in 1 week and I will let you know how everything goes with that as well!

9/12/2008 :   I didn't loose ay weight this week, but I won't let that get me down.  I'm going to try that much harder this week!!  I haven't been able to work out this week, because my gym membership was expired.  I was going to do my walking with Leslie DVD, which I highly reccommend, by the way, but I couldn't find it      I have a very busy weekend, so I should be able to keep my mind of food and temptations. 
I'm going to do the Special K diet for two weeks, hoping to loose another pants size.  I squeezed myself into a pair of strech 24's.  It looked like someone painted them on.  I'm still wearing my 28's but they are very loose.  I'm going to go shopping tonight, possibly for a dress.  My bestfriend is turning 21 and I might look cute in a dress...with some Spanx.
I'm hoping on my nxt weigh in I will be at a total of 40 pounds.  I have to go to the doctor again on the 17th, and I don't want to be in the same position I was when I went for my one month. 

9/18/2008 : I gained two pounds this week.  I still don't want to get myself down about it becuase I've been working out so much.  I had my 2nd fill yesterday and according to the doctor I'm doing just fine.  I feel like I lost an entire month becuase I never really felt full.  I now have 6cc's in my band and I still don't feel a whole lot of restriction, but I guess until I have 8-12 cc's is going to have to be a mind game.  I'm trying to stay motivated.   I have 3 things I'm going to focus on weekly.  A few of the things are, make sure and get in 50 grams of protien, drink 64 ounces of water, workout for 45 minutes 4 times a week, watch my calorie intake, limit carbs, some weeks I won't have any carbs.  I'm hoping to loose 5 pounds every week. 
This is the first year as an adult i'm going to wear a halloween costume, and I want to be 300lbs when I wear it.  I think this is possible.  I have about 6 weeks.  We'll see.  If not, I will at least know I tried.
I'm still going to do the special k diet for 2 weeks, i'm just waiting until the 1st week of october.
 
9/29/2008: So I lost the 2 pounds I had gained, that's a plus.  I really want to get in the 320's.  I bought an AB Lounge, and I've been using it every night.  I really love it.  I haven't been going to the gym as much as I should, and there is nothing to blame but myself.  Work is getting really stressful, and we are having a lot of mandatory overtime, which leaves me no time for myself.  I just have to remember what is important.  My main focus should be myself.  It's hard for me to put myself first.  I want everyone else to be happy.   In a few days I will go ahead and start the special k diet.  By the way.. Special K ceral ; Fruit and yogart, is soooo good.  I could eat it for the rest of my life!

DOWN 36 POUNDS

It feels so good.  I started this process at 366 pounds and squeezing into my size 28 strechy pants!  I'm now down 36 pounds and squeezing into my size 24 jeans!!  In a few weeks those pants will be on with no problem!! I'm so exicted.  I moved all my size 26, 24, and 22 pants to the from of my closet for inspiration.  They were actually in storage.  Yeah, it's been that long!!  
My eating has been okay.  It could be better.  I kinda fell off the wagon.  I'm not eating out or going to restaurants and such, but my intake is more than it should be.  I get my second fill on the 17th, so I'm hoping I will have more restriction. 


My Goals:         - To be in my size 24 Jeans by my Best Friends birthday party. ( September 13th)
                          -  To loose 45 pounds by September 21st.
                          -  To loose 50 pounds by October 1st
                          -  To loose 65 pounds by November 1st
                          -  To loose 80 pounds by December 1st
                          -  To loose 90 pounds by Chirstmas

I'm still working out about 4 times a week =) 
I usually do about 25-30 minutes on the treadmill and then about 20 minutes on weights.

FRUSTRATED

I had my first fill on the 18th of this month.  That was very easy, but i still don't have much restriction.  I can eat a decent amount of food, i just have to remember to chew really well.

I'm down 33 pounds.  I was hoping for more, but my doctor says i'm on track.  I will just take it one day at a time.  I bought a gym membership also and I try to work out 4 times a week. =)

BEEN A WHILE

My gosh, I've been forgetting to post.  I've been so busy!!

I went to my 1 week post-op appointment friday and everything went well!

At my appointment I was down 26 pounds.

2 days after my appointment I was up one pound.

3 days after I was down that same pound.

4 days after I was up 3 pounds.

I don't know what the deal is.  I know my BM's are irregular and I have also started working out daily.  I hope everything is back to normal tomorrow and I'm just in a funk. 

I will post tomorrow with my weight.

Any suggestions would be great!!

I don't get my first fill until the 18th of this month.

My grandma is  coming to see me  today :)  She came  and saw me Friday  evening and brought  me a beautiful orchid!!

Something is wrong  with the TV and I can't figure out how to work my borhter's PS3 so I can watch PS I Love You on Blu-Ray.  So I'm stuck.  All I have  is  the  computer  and  music.  OMG. 


**by the way, I'm not a retard.  I don't know what's wrong with OH today, but half of my words are coming together.  I know how to use a space bar!**

My Story

My name is Morgan.  I'm 20 years old, and very unhappy with myself.  Like most people, I have struggled with my weight my whole life.  I have dieted for probably 8 years.  You name it, I've bought it, or tried it.  I'm finally at a point in my life where I know I am ready for Lap Band Surgery.  I have a great job with great medical benefits.  I started this job in September, and after 3 months of employment I was able to sign up for their insurance.  December is when I began to inquire about the procedure.  After attending several Lap Band seminars, and finding a doctor I was comfortable with, I was told I must complete 6 months of documented weight loss with my PCP.  This was a major, unexpected set back.  January 17th I scheduled my first appointment with my PCP,and he said I'm a perfect candidate for WLS.  I was so excited.  I went to my psychologist appointment and went to see a nutritionist.  I now have 1 month left!  After that I can send my letter to Cigna to be approved!  I talked to the Insurance company and they said approval could take as little as 72 hours and as long as 90 days.  My PCP says Cigna usually takes 2-4 weeks. I'm hoping to have WLS in July.  I can't wait!  I'm ready to start living,and stop eating! Just kidding.  I really am ready to experience all life has to offer.  I want to be comfortable in clothing, be able to sit at a booth or table when I go to a restaurant.  I want to be comfortable in a swimsuit and be able to run and walk without much difficulty.  I also have developed a pretty severe back problem that I'm hoping will go away after WLS.  I want to be in a relationship, start a family and be at a healthy weight when I am ready to have a baby. I want to be able to sleep on my back and see my feet when I look down.  I want my little brother to be able to wrap his arms all the way around me.  He's never been able to do that.  I want to be as beautiful on the outside as I am on the inside.
