Wednesday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

My Story

March 19, 2007

The journey starts. I went to my first seminar on Feb. 27, 2007 and made an appointment to see DR. Paul Guske of the Kane Center for 3 weeks later. I have seen him, and am now waiting  to hear from the insurance company what they will want before approval. With all the horror stories I have heard, I am hoping this time goes fast.

I think I have been over weight for years and years, but until a few years ago, I just thought I was chunky, not obease. But when my weight went over the three hundred mark, and no diet seemed to help, I knew I needed to find something that would work for me. I had heard about WLS, but had no knowleadge even where to  find out about it.  When I did, I called my insurance company, only to find out that they  didn't pay for any weight loss programs, least of all, WLS. In January of this year, they fially revearsed that practice, and it didn't take me long to get started.

I heard from my Dr. on Monday. They are still trying to work things out with the insurance company. When I talked to them on Friday,(insurance company), she did ask if I had had the phych  evaluation yet. I told this to the Dr. and he said we ill set you up with that. So, another part of the journey to a healthier me is started. I go on Tuesday for that.

The nice spring weather we were having is now gone, it is in the 40'stoday. I hope it will warm up, I dislike the cold.Hope I get some more news by the end of the week,

April 14, 2007

Well, I was able to get my phych appointment on4/3/o7. Made appointments with the cardio guy, the Nut, and Lung people. I went to the Cardiac appointment and my journey was stopped for now.

I have a heart problem, and my cardiac Dr wants a bypass done and a valve replacement. I knew this was coming, but I was hoping to do the lapband first.I knew it had to be addressed first. This will just put the WLS off a few months. What is a few months, compared to years of waiting.

I am disapppointed and nervous about the next few months, but this journey will resume quickly.I will get the other visits out of the way as doon as I am able to drive after this setback!

I wanted to call my doctor today, but either the line was busy, no answer, or I was to busy at work to take the time. Then, it was after 5, so no one was there. I will call tomorrow for sure. I also need to make an appointment with my eye Dr.

My husband and I talked it over, and we decided that Lap-Band was the best for me, since it isn't as invastive. Dr. Guske, of the Kane Center agreed.

I have been trying this evening to put on a "ticker'. I know it isn't that hard to do, but it is evading me. I will try again later.

Its been a week since my consutaltion. I am hoping to hear something in the next week.

March 24,2007

Well. I heard late yesterday from the Dr. They were telling me that they can't get hold of my insurance. After I hung up, I thought, about it and called them myself. Apparently,  the case specialist had just gotten off the phone with the Dr.s office. I will confirm with them on Monday.

Today was another gray and dismal day. The one good thing was that I met my one daughter for btrakfast, and we did a bit of shopping.I am almost unable to walk to much, so if the store doesn't provide wheel chairs, I generally don't go in. I think that is one thing I am looking forward to, not getting so tired out trying to shop.

New goals:

1 To get approved

2 To have lap band done

3 To join the losing side

June 5,2007

I have been lax in keeping this up, but I had a heart valve replaced in April, and was in the hospital til the 2nd week of May. I am still not up to par, but am getting better. Now, if I could walk a bit longer then 2 min., I would feel better!

Anyway, today I go see the Nut and the lung Dr. If they both approve, then the only thing I am waiting for ismy Heart Dr to approve. Then, we can submit to the insurance co.Hopefuly, we can finish this up before September, when I go back to work.
