after the holidays
on January 2, 2008 10:51 pm
well, i think i did pretty good for the holidays. i cant believe it has been 7 months already and i am down 110 lbs almost. So far so good. I can fit into jrs clothing (size 12-14) I havent been able to wear that size since...i dont know...NEVER. It feels really good.

I have made some resolutions this year though.
1. exercise more often
2. go to some more support group meets
3. do my follow ups

We will have to see how that all fairs out. I need to post some recent photos too. That is top on my list. I had just bought a house and moved to catty, so i have been a busy girl lately.

its been a while
on September 2, 2007 9:04 pm
Well, it has been some time since i wrote last. I am down about 60 lbs in just a little over three months. I have so much more energy than i ever expected. I have experienced dumping syndrome a few times, and did not care for it at all! I have been so busy this past august. I went to disney with my mom, We were having a great time until she fell in magic kingdom and broke  both of her arms. Disney made the rest of the trip miserable. then i came home and bought a house...YEAH. i cant wait untill i start cooking and can make and try out new recipes. I am really excited about that. I noticed however some of my eating habits are not looking so good. i am having a very very hard time not drinking whle eating. Also I find myself snacking when i am extremely bored. If anyone has any tips for me please respond
thanks

back to work
on July 14, 2007 11:57 pm
New update. Went back to work this week for my gruelling 12 hour shifts--three in a  row too. Not too bad. Other than on Tuesday night, when the storm came and knocked out all the power in easton. The hospital was down to one generator and it was like 102 degrees in the building. Except our med room (we were sneaky and kept the air on in there)

I have now lost a total of 45 lbs in the past 7 weeks are so. Of course that is on my scale and in my birthday suit...lol. I go back to Dr. Koren's office on July 23rd.

I can already tell my energy level is tremendously better than ever before. My mom and I joined the YMCA and we are gonna start going on MOnday morning after work. Wwe are going to Disneyworld in a month and i would love to lose another 20 lbs by then. But if i dont no biggie.

As far as work is concerned I already started to pick up overtime. I have no problem telling people how much i lost or why i did it. I have been such a chatterbox at work this week . Everybody has so many questions for me and i love to answer them. I had a great experience with the surgery so far. I had no complications yet. NO vomiting yet.

In the food department, i am eating normal food that is low fat/sugar and higher in protein. I have a little bit of a hard time not drinking when i am eating with people out, but i am getting better. The perfect two items i found are great for my long shifts are the healthy choice mini frozen dinners ( they are half the size of the regular ones). They are cheap ($1.99), and they are pretty good in the protein dept. Usually anywhere between 15-30 grams of protein per meal. they fill me up great and the taste is better then i remember of healthy choice. I also take to work the one serving size of cottage cheese/fruit cups. I will eat that towards the end of my shift to give me a little boast.

One bad thing in this process is i found out a way to drink diet pepsi (ah, i love soda). The carbination kills me so i pour the soda in a cup with TONS of ice and let it sit for a few minutes. Once all the bubbles are gone, i can drink it. Its flat but its better than water all the time. i got sooooo sick of water. I also got tons of different tea flavors from this store in KOP mall. The store is Tevana-its a specialty tea store and kind of pricey, but they have like 100 flavors. I am hooked on blueberry, punch, and plum harvest right now. All i need to add to it is some splenda. It gives me the water i need and it has no calories. It has the same antioxidants as regualr diet but with a zest.....well gotta a lot of stuff to do yet on my night off......

over one month post op
on July 1, 2007 12:47 pm
wt start 297
down to 264 (lost 33 lbs)

Well this past week took a little vacation to a park (yeah for roller coasters). It was fun but kind of depressing still.... a couple of the rides would only fit a butt the size 16 regular--WHAT THE HELL. I didnt even try to get on. I felt bad for other people. The attendent makes you sit in a seat before you get in line. There were SOOOOOOOO many people who couldnt fit in it. It was really ridiculous.

On the other hand, plan on going back to work next week. Still working on the whole getting in enough protein. STILL FIGHTING WITH AETNA!!!!!! I should have just waited to OCT so they couldnt do the whole preexisting condition bullshit. I called my doctor and we are fighting the denial. AETNA basically self diagnosed me with 3 things i never had!!!!!!! WHY AM I NOT SURPRISED!!!!!!!!!! IF I HAVE TO TAKE IT FURTHER TO GET  A LAWYER..I WILL. Now i have no income coming in...grrr. I basically told off the caseworker and gave her every freaken definition of the diagnosis they said i had.....BOY WAS SHE SURPRISED (i told her straight out i am an ICU NURSE) they were basically messing with the wrong person...too many people let insurance companies walk over them b/c not every knows how to fight it. In the end the case worker knew she was wrong and had nothing to say!! ONLY A DOCTOR CAN DIAGNOSIS ME WITH A DISEASE... big difference between a symptom of high blood pressure due to anxiety and hypertension....freaking idiots....i think i am even more annoyed becaue i watched micheal moore's SICKO movie...and there are things that are sooo true about insurance companies. They make millions of dollars a year just by denying people, and half the time theyknow they are wrong..but are money hungry....our governement really neeeds to take control of our health system like other countries and stop letting it be run by a money hungry industry like aetna, blue cross, and all the pharmacy companies. If you ever  had problems with insurance companies i would definitely check out the movie.

On the other not everything else is good. i felt like i just needed to rant about that for a few..thanks

second post op visit
on June 17, 2007 2:44 pm
Well had my second post op visit the other day. First post op visit I lost 17 lbs (COULDNT BELIEVE IT) and the next one i lost an additional 6.6 lbs for a total of 23.6...so far so good. Dr. Koren told me I have to eat more frequently and get in the protein. I am trying out this ISOPURE stuff from GNC my friend recommended, no sugar or carbs...kind of tastes like flavored water, but pricey. Found out my STD was not approved...I am def going to try and fight it.  Stupid AETNA people. Now i will be broke.

Just got back from camping for the weekend, really exhausted. Couldnt sleep and in tons of pain. Hopefully it gets better. Time is going by so slowly.
