Surgeon Testimonial

Daniel D. Tran, M.D.
Dr Tran and Dr Halmi were great! Surgery went great! They were very professional and made me very comfortable before sugery.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
When I was young I was very thin. I would get in trouble everyday for not finishing my food. I would get called E-Boney instead of Ebony. As an adult I started to gain weight and loved my curves. I gained more and more self esteem with every pound. It wasn't until A few years ago when I was diagnosed with diabetes at 275 lbs I started trying to loose weight. The more I tried the more I gained until finally decided to have sugery at 323lbs.

4.5 months out
on August 30, 2010 3:18 pm
Okay, so I am 61 pounds lighter. My family and I went to Busch gardens and Water Country USA for the weekend. I went on several rides and had a blast. I am pretty used to my new eating habits so i rarely get sick. I still crave sugar but its not too bad. I went from a size 26 to a size 18.

Optifast
on April 9, 2010 3:33 pm
6 days until surgery and I am on optifast. I am hungry all the time and cranky but I know if I just hold on I will reap the rewards. My nutritionist told me if I must have something else make sure its carbless. So I will be having baked fish with lemon and pepper, that should make me a little happier. Does anyone else have trouble sticking to this optifast for 2 or even 1 week??

8 days til surgery
on April 7, 2010 5:41 pm
So, I have 8 days left and i swear if one more person ask me for money for something I am going to scream, In the last 30 days I have shelled out over 3 grand in incidentals and i was asked today for a $140 for a copay on a breathing machine. The pulmonary specialist wont sign off unless i keep seeing him everyother day until surgery and get this machine. I have to pick it up from the supplier who will fit me for a mask and show me how to use it ($140) then I have to see the pulmonary doctor again ($30) so he can go over the same thing, or else he wont give me clearance.I've already had 2 sleep studies and two appointments at $30 each since last week($120).  I'm starting to feel taken advantage of. I also have to do this Optifast for two weeks. This I was told about but I don't see why I have to pay $300 for Optifast when its the same thing as Slim fast that i can get at safeway for a whole lot less. I have to use their nutritionist who wont even submit to insurance companies so you have to pay out of pocket. ($500) and now i have to get supplements ($270) for a 90 day supply. I am more stressed out now than I was ever before and it's not about the surgery its about all the chaos before. There has got to be an easier more patient friendly way!!!
