Surgeon Testimonial

Babak Moeinolmolki M.D.
I went to a required Open House, with the intentions of selecting Dr. Von Reuden as my surgeon. After hearing Dr. Moen speak, I felt a connection to him. He has a been a wonderful surgeon and a source of information. I am delighted each time that I need to speak with him or visit the office.

In regards to the office, they are very busy. It is not at all unusual to wait 10-20 minutes for your call to be answered. When messages are left, they are typically returned within 24 hours. I overpaid my "estimated charges" and I am still waiting for my refund. I will update the group on that.

Bye Bye Curves, Hello Baby Bump!
on June 20, 2008 6:18 am
Hey ya'll!  It's been a while since I've written an update.  Everything is wonderful.  My journey has been so amazing and my life has changed in ways that I couldn't even have imagined.  I'm almost 1 year post op and down 152 pounds as of Wednesday, 6/18/08.

Although not specifically in my plan, God's plan for hubby and I to become parents has been launched!   I am 11 weeks pregnant.  My medical team (OB/GYN, Bariatric Surgeon and Primary Care Doc) are all on board and talking to each other.  I'm looking forward to a wonderful pregnancy and welcoming a little person to our world in January!

I hope that everyone is doing well, no matter where you are in your journey!

Wow, 6 Months Gone By!
on January 10, 2008 9:29 am
Hey everyone!
I can't believe that I actually had surgery 6 months ago.  My life has changed so much since July 6, 2007.  I am so thankful that I did my research and finally moved forward with having this surgery.

The support of my husband, parents, friends and family has been wonderful.  Although I've been an OH member since 2005, I was not active until October 2007.  I am awed by the tremendous amount of support that I receive from the individuals on this site.

I came through surgery with no complications and have not had any in the last 6 months.  I am diligent when it comes to my vitamins, supplements, protein, water and sleep.  God willing, I will stay healthy and problem free.

Not sure how much I've lost, but last checkup with the doc was 12/11 and I was down 111 pounds.

Before surgery, I was forced to shop only at Catherines and Roamans (online) to get the 34s and 36s I needed.  This weekend, I went to Lane Bryant for the first time in about 10 years.  I'm happy to report that I purchased a pair of grey slacks and I wearing them today, in size 24.

I can't promise to keep this blog updated, but I will try!  Best of luck to everyone on their journey!

My Story

Hi everyone!  I’ve been a member of the OH network since July 2005, but only became active in October 2007.  I’ve read lots of profiles and figured it was time to write my own story.   I live outside Washington, DC in Prince George’s County, Maryland and had my surgery in Baltimore, MD.

I’ve been overweight my entire life.  But, as a child and then as a teenager, I was very active and the weight wasn’t a big deal.  After college, I really packed on the pounds.  It was a slow, gradual gain of about 15 pounds a year.  I graduated high school in 1993 at 201 pounds.  On the morning of my gastric bypass surgery, July 6, 2007, I weighed 410 pounds.

I have struggled with weigh loss for the last 10 years, especially the last five.  I tried Weight Watchers (11 times), Jenny Craig (2 times), South Beach (2 times) and nothing ever kept the weight off.  I can admit that I celebrated weight loss success with more food.  Ridiculous, huh?  I didn’t truly understand how deep my emotional connection to food ran until I met with my therapist during my pre-op regiment.

I am looking forward to the changes in my life that surgery has afforded me.  I am ready for the journey and I look forward to meeting lots of folks on OH.
