Surgeon Testimonial

Eric S. Schlesinger, M.D., F.A.C.S
My first impression of Dr. Schlesinger was that he seemed to really care about what he does. rnI've only met him once so far.rnHis office staff went over and above to help me get things going and they are very personable.rnI can't think of anything I didn't like about him or that I liked least about him - he seems great so far.rnFurture patients should know that Dr. Schlesinger seems to want to do what is in the best interest of the patient and what is the most effective yet safest procedure for that patient.rnHe said that aftercare is of the utmost importance and that he considers it a life long program with him.rnYes he seems to have a structured aftercare program to include support group.rnHe explained all the risks of surgery and how best to reduce the probability.rnSince I've only met him once I will give him highest marks for now!rnSurgical competence is most important to me of the two options, but bedside manner is important too.rn

148 this A.M.
on November 8, 2009 9:45 am
Was 148 when I got on the scale this morning.  Still slow, but moving in the right direction.  Kidney stones procedure Tuesday.  My urologist told me people with gastric bypass have an increased chance of developing kidney stones, so lucky me I already had problems with the damn things well before gastric bypass, so I guess I have double the chance...yeeegadds.

Sep 19th

I should get on here more often.  I was 152 this morning...things are still going down, but very very very slowly.  I feel really good except I do have a little discomfort right above where my stomach should be...getting a CT scan Monday to rule out cyst or hernia.  I missed my year appointment with Dr. S because my referal expired, so I got another referal and am waiting for the paperwork in the mail.  I'll post when I find something out from the CT scan.

Almost 5 months out
on November 7, 2008 9:29 am
On the 9th of Novemeber I will be 5 months out from surgery.  My weight loss is slowing, but still going.  I have so many little things that I can do now.  For some reason one of the biggest things for me is crossing my legs at the thigh.  It makes me feel femine and I love it!!!  I have oodles of room in booths now and some where starting to get a little tight.  I have lot's of room between me and my steering wheel too.  I'm down to my smallest clothes size that I have around the house from when I started gaining a lot back in 2000.  The lowest clothes size I have is 16 and they are starting to get a little roomy in some cases.  I'm still 53 pounds from my final goal and that's when my Grammy told me she would buy me a knew wardrobe.  Life is good.

My Story

My story is very much like a lot of others I've read.  I started having to watch my weight at about the age of 11 or 12.  I've always like to eat large portions.  I was in the Air Force for twenty years and fought to stay within standards for at least the last ten years, especially when I hit my thirties and had my last two kids.  I've tried so many diets, but the only thing that seemed to work was phentermine, but when I would stop taking it I would almost always gain weight and then I would have to weightwait until I could take it again.  The other problem with phentermine is that it raised my already high resting heart rate, so during exercise my heart rate would sky rocket.  I decided to look into WLS when I recently went to the doctor for a sinus infection and was diagnosed with high blood pressure along with the sinus infection.  I'm almost 45 and don't want to continue this up and down (mostly up) struggle, while my health continues to deteriorate, any longer.  I'm looking forward to feeling healthy again!
