My rebirth to a healthy new life began on February 20, 2008. The blogs below document the ups and downs of my journey!
6 months out! on August 20, 2008 5:15 pm
I continue to see changes and feel wonderful every day!! I have so much to be thankful for. I take time every day, to reflect on where I have come from. The pain, the stress, the unhappiness - and the food/calories/junk that I would consume in 1 day!!!!
It's just a miracle that gastric bypass can do so much for someone as little as me. Somedays I wonder, what have I done to deserve this amazing gift......whatever it was, I am thankful.
Current Stats:
size XL tops (16/18)
size 20 (yet very loose and comfortable) jeans and pants
My rings do not fit anymore, my glasses do not fit anymore they completely fall off my face, my shoes do not fit!
I have a Birthday coming up & I have A LOT on my wish list!!!!
Love you all for reading!!

5 months out! on July 30, 2008 8:41 am
Today I'm 5 months and 10 days out, and I am down 85 pounds! I feel absolutley amazing! Life is so good, I can't thank God enough!!! Having gastric bypass surgery has been the best thing I have ever done for myself.
Pre-op my cothing size was a snug size 28 top and pants. Today (5 months later) I am a loose size 18/20! A miracle : ) I find that clothes do not fit properly, I have on a really cute dress today, with about 20 safety pins, holding it up!
I am working towards my goal of -100 pounds. I'm so close I can taste it - and you know what, NOTHING taste as good as this!

4 months out! on June 21, 2008 9:48 pm
I am down 76 pounds!!! I am speechless! The weight has suddenly began falling off. A good friend of mine (Amelia) said that one day I would sneeze and notice the weight loss. This month I have lost 13 pounds, and it is only the middle of the month!! The changes I have experienced are too many to name, but overall my quality of life has expanded.
* I feel as if I fit in when I am around other females. I went to a concert last night and sat in my chair, with my legs cross (when I wasn't up yelling and screaming, smile) and I had plenty of arm room. For a woman that has never been obese, this was a BIG DEAL for me!!
* I take pictures all day, everyday. Pictures are the only way I see the weight loss.
* My energy level is unbelievable! I am up early for work and I am able to work really hard - all day long, without needing a power nap after lunch.
* My appetite is still controlled, I am rarely hungry - and I eat the suggested portions of food at every meal.
* My daily food intake includes: Hot Green Tea 1st thing in the AM - - I have eliminated coffee completely and do not miss the weight it was keeping on.
I have 3/4 cup of Trail Mix cereal and 1% milk for Breakfast, I have a 1/2 of turkey sandwich & a few pretzels for lunch. A small sized Healthy Choice meal for my dinner, followed by a small cup of Hot Green Tea before bed. Note: this works for my pouch, may not work for someone else!
* I have my first tattoo - in a very visible place and its gorgeous - I'm so proud of it, it was my treat to myself after loosing 50 pounds - ask me for pics : )
* BEST NEWS EVER: I went shopping with my mom today and I cried happy tears because I am in The Junior/Misses Section! No Words Can Express the JOY I felt when I was able to step into the other side of the store: a side that never existed to me!! Plus Size is now my past!

3 Months Out! on May 20, 2008 8:45 pm
Today was my 3 month follow up with my surgeon. Dr. Elliott was so impressed with my dedication and overall progress. He & I get along so well. have a great amount of respect for him (especially since he did such a fantastic job...minimal scars and pain after surgery!)
For pre-op's: it's so important to find a surgeon that you are able to communicate with & trust.
I feel absolutely 100,000% a - m - a - z - i - n - g!!!!!
I have lost 60.4 pounds since surgery and that doesn't include the 10lbs from the pre-op diet. My WOW moment occured 2 nights ago: My honey & I went to the movies and for the 1st time in my life - I was able to cross my legs during the entire 2 hour show!! Even better, we didn't have to keep an extra chair between us to provide extra arm room!! There are no words to describe my emotions
Currently my exercise routine incorporates 40 minutes of cardio + 20 minutes of weights (arms and thighs) 5 x's a week. I love exercising; I never thought I would ever say that. I enjoy getting my heart rate up and sweating!!! I can almost feel the fat burning off.
I have reached a lot of goals in the past 3 months & I am now working on my next set, including what my treat will be when I hit my 100 pound loss. Whatever I choose - it is going to be worth it!!
Looking backing, when I would accomplish a goal - on previous diets (pre-op) - my treat to myself would be FOOD!!!! <- so sad!
Life is wonderful and I am determined and focused to WIN this time!!!!

2 Months out on April 21, 2008 5:14 pm
Today I am 2 months out from surgery. I feel amazing!! Everyday for the past 2 months, I have thanked the Lord for bringing me this far, with no complications!
> My weight before liver shrink = 354
> My weight morning of surgery = 344
> My weight 2 months out (today) = 297.6
> > > Total Loss = 56.4
My goal weight for April 30th is to be 287.
I am going to work very hard to get there! I have weeks when the weight falls off - - and other weeks, when I barely loose 2 pounds!
I hear everyday, "wow - I can see it in your face!" - well, that's nice and all, but can you see it anywhere else???!!! Gosh!!!!
But you know what - it doesn't matter to me, because I SEE IT, I NOTICE IT - and I.....FEEL....GOOD!!!!!

I am finally in the 2-hundreds!!! on April 14, 2008 2:49 pm
I did it - I finally did it! I hit 299lbs this morning. This is the best feeling in the world! When you have been over 300lbs for more than 4 years, it is hard to remember what its like to be out of that horrible weight bracket.
My energy level is amazing, my clothes look so nice and neat on me - My pants are now loosely a size 22/24 and my tops are 18 (1X).
7 weeks ago I was wearing a size 28.
I am determined to hit -50 pounds by the end of this week (currently, I have lost -44.2).
I am going downstairs to make a nice dinner and then off to the gym for 2 hours of cardio!
I'm having a Fabulous day!!!

I Love Zumba! on April 8, 2008 6:21 pm
I am just getting home from my Zumba class, I had so much fun! Zumba requires you to move your hips and waist. And let me tell you, after loosing over 40 pounds - everything was jiggling. Overall, I have NO SHAPE whatsoever! I asked my baby if he would take my shopping this weekend to buy some spandex work-out pants, something that will suck my tummy in!
Now let me back track - - the reason I went to Zumba tonight is because I had a very bad day today! I woke up emotional and in a nasty mood, for no reason (a side effect of surgery). No mater how hard I tried to shake the attitude, it wouldn't leave! I snapped on everybody at work - I cried about 4 times and I didn't get any work done! I even called my angel at work and cursed gastric bypass out!! She put me in my place though (i love you ms1poopie!)
I am so thankful for exercise, because after my class my moodswing was gone... I feel so much better! Now time for a hot bath and cup of tea - then off to bed!

Great Workout Tonight on April 7, 2008 7:17 pm
I just got home from the gym!! I did 2 hours of a little bit of everything! I have found that after loosing more than 40 lbs - working out is no longer a task, it's actually enjoyable!! I feel very relaxed and ready to go to bed!
Tomorrow is my 1 on 1 with my Nutritionist. I am hoping she can give me NEW FOODS to eat - I am getting tired of the same routine.
I had a sandwich for the first time today - actually I had 2 (1 for lunch and 1 for dinner). I was curious to see if bread would hurt me...it didn't (it was lightly toasted) - however, I was soooooooo full that I felt sick!! So - I wont be eating sandwiches for a very long time!! I will continue to just eat the meat.
Overall, feeling great & very happy!

1 month follow-up on March 20, 2008 7:45 pm
Today was my 1 month follow-up with my surgeon. I have lost 30 pounds since surgery!!! He stated he is very proud of me & that I am doing excellent.
My Angel (ms1poopie) asked me today, "How do you feel?" - - and I said, "Skinny!" - - lol - -
~ so, that pretty much sums up my life right now.
I return to work on Monday. I can't believe I have been gone over 4 weeks! The time has really gone by fast. I am extremely nervous about adjusting to my "new life" at work. For example, I get sudden urges of diarrhea (often) - and I am not looking forward to having that occur while I am at work. We have only 50 employees (45 females) and 1 Bathroom!! NOT A GOOD SITUATION FOR AN EARLY OUT POST OP PATIENT! I plan on having a change of clothes and underwear in my office - along with baby wipes, etc. I am going to prepare for the worst.
So - 30 pounds down....another one hundred and four to go!!!!

1st Day at Gym!! on March 6, 2008 2:30 pm
Wow - right now, I feel like I could sleep for the rest of the week!
I just got back from American Family and this was my 1st day working out, after surgery (and also in over a year). My muscles were in for a licking - but it felt so good. I started off with the treadmill - I did 2 miles (8 laps) at it took me 45 minutes. Now, I am fine with this because this is my starting point...and hopefully in another month I will increase my speed and be able to do 2 miles in 1/2 my current time.
Second I did 10 minutes of thigh exercises and 10 minutes of arm exercises. For a total of 1 hour of exercise!!!! I am so proud of myself. I would have loved to have gone longer, but my surgeon said yesterday that he only wanted me doing 30 minutes a day - - so I pushed it by going an hour.
I made sure I ate before going into the gym (2 LiveActive cheese cubes and 1 oz of turkey lunch meat) - and when I left the gym (1 LiveActive cheese cube & 1 oz of turkey lunch meat).
I am home now enjoying a Yoplait Light yogurt - delicious!!!!
I have a Support Group meeting to attend in 1/2 an hour.
Today has been a very productive day!!
