Surgeon Testimonial

Gary Belzberg, M.D.
Prior to meeting Dr. Belzberg (of Kaiser So Cal) I had made up my mind that I wasn't going to get my VSG. Much to my surprise, he was familiar and has performed the RnY, VSG, DS & LapBand! So after that everything was wonderful. Dr. Belzberg explained all the pros and cons of each surgery from his opinion. He is very matter of fact. I enjoyed my time and look forward to my surgery 11/26/07.

June 2007

June 11, 2007 ~ It CLICKED...
Here I am on June 11th just 20 days since my last post...so what's happened you ask?  Well believe it or not for all those KAISER patients one of the Classes REALLY reached me.  It's titled MAP My Action Plan.  There isn't much in life that you want to accomplish that doesn't require a Plan.  My BA required a plan.  My looking for a job required a plan.   Well in the Kaiser class we were to pick 3 things to work on for the next month.

Mine are:
1) Become aware of relapse signs (and take action)
2) Develop and practice patience
3) Deal with Frustration (without eating)

I picked this to specially to deal with what I was going through during May.  I added the take action part of #1 because I was aware that I was having a relapse but did nothing to stop it.  My relapse in May took me from 288 to 295 in a matter of 2 weeks.  I was devastated BUT I knew it was coming.
I need to develop and practice patience for dealing with the guy who truly owes the money.  Each time I had to call and beg for my money and he wouldn't answer I stuffed a piece of something in my mouth just because I couldn't deal with it.
I need to learn non-food ways to deal with frustration because it is a natural part of life and if I don't learn to deal with it it will drag me back down the alley I refuse to go into.
Let me start by saying on May 26, 2007 I weighed 295.0lbs and I put my plan into action.  My calorie range is 1200-1500 a day.  This has been my focus.  When I have to call my "friend" I take deep cleansing breaths, oh yeah and when I leave a message I do the same thing.  If during this time I start to feel anxious and want to eat, I focus on the cause of the frustration and figure my way around it.  On June 8, 2007 (just 2 weeks later) I weighed 284.6lbs.
Thank you Jesus for everything I do is because of you.
God bless everyone on their journeys.

Jun 17, 2007 ~ 5K Time to Beach 55:13
So I've been trying to particiapte in a Virtual 5k (3.1mil) since April.  Each and every time I decided to "do" the race on a Sunday and each and every Saturday I would end up going out or doing something to injure my ankle and not complete the "race".
Well no more excuses.  Today was the first day of my re-committment to myself and exercise and I completed my 5k race (3.1mi) in 55 minutes 13 seconds.  I AM so proud of myself considering I walked on the treadmill between 3.3mph and 3.5mph the fastest I have ever walked.
This is just the beginning!  So if you haven't started your workout routine in preparation for LIFE and WLS I must ask...what are you waiting for?
Be blessed in your journey to a better you
