Surgeon Testimonial

Michael Melkonian, M.D.
I met with Dr. Melkonian yesterday and I was very impressed with him. He took time to answer all of my questions. I did not feel rushed in any way. He seemed to really care and listen to my questions. So far, the entire office has been nice and responsive to needs or questions I have had.

Oh my goodness! A first!
on December 16, 2007 4:59 am
So, I had to go suit shopping since I have an interview on Tuesday for another job.  I went to Macy's and picked out a variety of suits in sizes 18 and 20.  I still cannot see myself in an 18 and still grab things that are too big.  So I start trying on the suits and they are all too big.  Even the size 18!  So I still have one left but when I look at the size, it says a size 16.  I think, no way.  But I try on the jacket and long and behold, it fits!  I decided to give the skirt a try and OH MY GOODNESS!!!! It fit!!!!!!! I ran out of the dressing room to show my husband and get his opinion,  He really liked the suit and when I told him it was a size 16, his eyes lit and up and said Really?  I told you, you were losing and getting smaller!
The scale does not indicate more pounds lost however, my body shape is changing dramatically.  So for my interview on Tuesday, I will be wearing a size 16 suit.  I don't EVER, I mean EVER recall being able to wear a size 16.  Even if I do not get the job, I am happy where I am at right now!

Shopping at Old Navy
on December 2, 2007 3:07 am
Well I went into Old Navy the other day just to see if anything would fit.  I am down to a size 18 but an 18 at Lane Bryant is fuller than an 18 at Old Navy.  So for giggles, I took a pair of jeans, button down shirt and sweater into the dressing room.  How shocked I was when the clothes fit me and how thin I looked!! I could not get over how much smaller I have become.  My new clothes I bought are big on me know so I still think I look big, but this outfit really fit me well!  I ended up getting just the sweater but am heading back to get the button down shirt!  I am 4 months post op, feel GREAT and am down 60 pounds.  Now, when I see some of my other friends who have had it around the some time I did and they are down much more weight then I am, I get upset. But I try to remember that at least I am loosing the weight and not gaining any!!!
Saw my family for Thanksgiving. They have not seen me since pre surgery and what reactions I got when I saw them!  They could not believe the way I looked now.  That was nice to get positive reactions from them.  I got through Thanksgiving without any problems.  Had a minor case of dumping from some homemade hot chocolate my sister made but it passed!

3 Months Post Op
on October 28, 2007 4:22 pm
Well I went to Dr. for my almost 3 month post op and I am doing great.  I was down 50 pounds but went to anther Dr on Friday and I am down 55 pounds.  I really feel great!  I do not mind telling anyone that I had the surgery.  I have begun working out.  I met a nice lady who had the surgery 13 months ago that goes to the gym where I go and she has been very encouraging.  I hope to be able to work out with her some.

Amazing!!!
on October 4, 2007 3:49 pm
It is hard to believe that it is almost 3 months since my surgery.  I had a week of stalling at 45 pounds but this week I have picked up my speed.  I am now down 50 pounds!  I cannot believe it!  I don't see it though.  My clothes are big even the new ones I bought. I am able to keep down more things.  I know I have to eat slowly.  I can drink more now as well.  My new favorite food is South Beach cinnamon raisin bars.  10 grams of protein per bar.  I eat 2 a day!  Loving it!!!

Seven Weeks Post Op
on September 19, 2007 2:42 am
Well, it has been seven weeks so far.  I feel better and better everyday!  People at work are starting to ask me what I am doing since I did not let anyone know I had surgery.  I am just starting to tell people and the responses are increadible!  I feel more confident.  I seem to walk taller and am enjoying the weight loss.  My hubby took me shopping on Saturday as I need dress clothes for work.  I still cannot see myself in the smaller sizes.  I get into the dressing room and I am like "no way are these going to fit"  But I try them on and they do and are getting looser on my!  I did squeeze into an 18 but they were a little tight yet!  Another 2 weeks and they should fit fine.
I took a picture yesterday and I can notice that my collar bones are starting to show more!  How exciting!.
Eating has been getting better now as well.  I chew, chew, chew.  I eat very slowly, even walking away from table and coming back to finish. I know when I get just about full it is time to stop or else!
I love all the support I have and get from this site, the support group at Presby, and family and friends!
