Surgeon Testimonial

Mark Fontana, M.D. F.A.C.S.
My first impression of Dr. Fontana was a very warm and secure feeling. Being that he is prior Navy and so am I, I felt he was a great choice. He explains everything in detail that is easy to understand. The office staff gets a rating of a TEN-Plus. They are more like family. Dr. Fontana and his entire staff are so dedicated to each and every patient as an individual, which is a very comforting feeling during a major process such as WLS.

I have called the office several times in a week and have been greeted with such warm and kind staff. It is never a "stupid" question and they are all there to calm our nerves and assist us through this process.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
confine myself to the inside of my house when not at work. Shopping for clothing was the most depressing event ever. Taking trips and not being able to buckle the lap belt on the airplane. Staying home to watch movies, because the movie theater seats were too small.

Thanksgiving
on November 22, 2009 2:10 pm
I will be heading to Missouri to see my MOM and sisters for Thanksgiving.  I don't think they know, although I did find my sister's information on this site, and yes, she has lost alot of weight.....hmmm did she not tell me her secret, and made me go through this alone...

I have lost 65 pounds and feel great.  Tryng to find recipies that are bariatric friendly.  I wish I could just delete my taste buds, then this would be so easy.

I did find a website called THEWORLDACCORDINGTOEGGFACE

Wonderful recipies there to try.  Going to make crustless pizza now..... later.

My life begins
on July 11, 2009 5:08 am
I have started 2 new avenues of my life. My decision for WLS was not a quick one. I have researched it for over a year and a half. Reading every article, book or on-line messages that I could find.  After a year of research I began the meetings with physicians and staff.  I interviewed several physicians and practices.  I finally made my decision with Norfolk Surgical Group after meeting Dr. Fontana and Dr. Wohlgemuth.  I had interviewed several surgeons before making my final choice with this group.  I felt very comfortable with the entire staff.  You would think they would get annoyed with all the calls and (stupid) questions I had.  But the entire support staff.  What a great group of people.

The second avenue of my life is TRAVEL.  Yes, I love to travel, but since I cannot travel as much as I would like to, I am now the new addition to Guardian Travel.  If I can't travel myself,  I am just as satisfied booking travel for others.  I work extremely hard to find the perfect package and lowest price for each and every client.  Of course I am not doing it for the money, as I am only doing it part time.  I thoroughly enjoy it and it really energizes me.  Feel free to contact me at sunnytimetravel at cox dot net.

My Story

Hello to all my new friends that can relate.  I have gained quite a bit of weight over the last 10 years due to 18 leg surgeries.  Now due to lack of mobility I have high blood pressure, Cholestol and acid reflux.  Weighing more now that I have in my entire life.  I am 44 years old, married to my best friend (Mike) and loving life now that we are empty nesters.  OK OK I will be 45 on June 4th.  Surgery is scheduled to be July 8th, unless I get someone else's cancellation date.  I have done my research and read everthing on this journey that I find.

Welcoming all new friends.
