He was very informative and very nice. I had met him several times at the support meetings. My initial meeting i thought he sure is young which made me a little nervous.rnrnBut now I am overall very confident in my decsion and I am very trusting to the staff that will be working on me..

The Will to Win by Berton Braley If you want a thing bad enough To go out and fight for it, Work day and night for it, Give up your time and your peace and your sleep for it, If only desire of it Makes you quite mad enough Never to tire of it, Makes you hold all other things tawdry and cheap for it, If life seems all empty and useless without it And all that you scheme and you dream is about it, If gladly you'll sweat for it, Fret for it, Plan for it, Lose all your terror of God or man for it, If you'll simply go after that thing that you want With all your capacity, Strength, and sagacity, Faith, hope, and confidence, stern pertinacity, If neither cold poverty, famished and gaunt, Nor sickness nor pain Of body and brain Can turn you away from the thing that you want, If dogged and grim you besiege and beset it, You'll get it.

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery! I am post-op Laparoscopic RNY; my surgery was on 5/24/05. Anyway, I will be praying for you, and I know you will come through surgery with flying colors. Pretty soon, you will be a big ol’ loser!! I’m not going to tell you that the first few weeks after surgery will be a bed of roses because it was pretty bad for me. But today, I feel fine and the only thing that I regret is that I didn’t have surgery in 2004 when I first started researching it. So, if you find that you’re having a hard time coping right after surgery, please know that it DOES get better. Don’t ever hesitate to email me if there is anything I can do for you – even if you just need a pep talk! So here’s to you… may you have a successful surgery, improved health, energy galore, many “wow moments”, and fabulous before-and-after pics! God bless! Hugs, Tracy

on December 3, 2008 12:40 pm
Well I am still here i do not post much but i lerk around..  Not much has changed I had hernia repairs in July and seem to be feeling ok. My weight loss stopped at 6 months and I am fairly pleased I would like to lose some more to make it to the initial goal of 150   not really that far from it.  I was taken off insulin finally in November 2007 so that was a big relief. No medication needed now and loving it..   I will be more active on here soon enough.

Time for an update
on July 9, 2007 1:38 pm
Well I have been on vacation for a week and the week before that I had my 6th month followup appt.. Dr. was very happy with my weightloss.. My labs were all good i did not need a b-12 shot and my iron was high..that sucked but at least it wasn't low.lol  So i am down 75 since surgery  81 since preop i have lost a total of 108 inches from around my stomach hips bust arms and legs how cool is that..  The doctor goal we made was 150 so i am pretty close to that . It is still hard for me to see it the only thing i notice is i am putting on a size 12 instead of a 26 or 28.. I have a problem with self image obviously.. My diabetes is not gone by a long shot but it has definately improved from 4 shots a day to 1 so i am not complaining  Just wanted to blog it has been a while..Everybody keep up the good work.....

My Story

My name is Anita I am 30 years old. First I would like to say that I was very comfortable with my physical appearance regardless of my weight and honestly that is probably the reason that I never had much of a desire to lose weight.  Well that was until I realized my health may get better If I had a little help.  For most of my childhood and young adult life I had type 2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, diabetic neuropathy, high cholestrol, pcos and needless to say obesity.

I have a strong family history of diabetes and my mother 61 y/o is in poor diabetic health struggling with small blood vessel disease which has resulted in complete blindness and kidney failure and arterial blockage and diabetic ulcer. She is my true inspiration for the surgery.

In 2003 i hit my highest weight at 291lbs I got serious with my diabetes educator and physician and went on a 1800 cal diet with exercise. I had success and maintained my new weight at 245-250 for 3 years. Although at that point I was happy with my weight loss my health continued to spiral out of control; my insulin doses were increasing and I just did not want to end up with the destiny of my mother.

My open RNY was Dec. 6, 2006
