Kristina, I just saw that you had a recent update on Dr. L's message board. I didn't recognize the name, so came to look at your profile. I see you have surgery tomorrow. I wish you the best with your surgery and recovery. I had my surgery on 10/15. You will be in the best hands. If you need anything please let me know.

Monday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

Oh My
on January 19, 2008 7:57 pm
It has been forever since I posted here. I am doing well. I have lost over 45 pounds since my surgery. That puts me just a hair under 200, which I haven't been since I met my husband 13 years ago. Everything seems to be well. I haven't had any problems so far with adding back foods into my diet. I have held off on a few things that I could have had "just in case" I don't want to try something to early and have a bad reaction and never try it again because of that one instance.

Everyone at work and at home keeps telling me how amazing I look. I am feeling more confidant and trying to "polish" my look. I'm still a jeans kind of girl but now I am constantly wearing some form of heels(wedges or boots) to work every day. I rejoined the gym and my husband bought a treadmill for the house.

I am at 11 weeks out and feel like this is the best thing I could have done for myself and my future.

My Story

I have been over weight since I was 13 years of age. My mother and aunt were both large women and I had resigned myself to the fact that I would be this way my whole life. No matter what diet I tried it never worked. My mother and I decided to look into Gastric Bypass for my aunt originally and after finding out alot of good information, my mother underwent the procedure in August of 2006. I was so amazed by her success that I decided to follow in her footsteps and have the surgery as well.

Well it's November 11th and I have been home from the hospital for a couple days now. I am looking forward to my new life and all the good changes that will come from the surgery. I am still a little tired all the time but everyone says "this too shall pass". My wonderful husband has been doing a great job making sure I do what I am supposed to when I might forget. I am very lucky to have such a good support systems with him and my mother, as well as my aunt and brother. I have found I notice more of the food related commercails on TV now and thought that would bother me but so far it hasn't. I thank everyone for their words of encouragment.
