Surgeon Testimonial

Osvaldo C. Anez
I met my surgeon at my first doctor's appointment and he spent time with me reviewing my history and discussing the procedure he would do on me. He only does Open Mini-Incision RNY (there are others in his practice that perform other surgeries). I felt really comfortable with him and he has an excellent reputation in this area. Most at his office have also had this surgery so they are able to talk to you from first hand experience.
He has a very structured program and his staff walks you through all requirements and works with your insurance company to get you approved. My 1st appointment was January 23, 2007 and my Surgery was April 12, 2007 this is a relative quick approval process for this type of surgery. He staff is able to refer you to many specialist to assist you with getting the clearances needed. I did not meet him again until the day of my Surgery (it would have been nice to see him a little more, but I love his staff). The Surgery went well and he even corrected problems that were found in my pre-op test while performing my surgery. I did not see him again after the surgery at the hospital but he did see me when I felt like I was having a problem after I came home and he was able to reassure me that everything was fine and that I was doing well. I would highly recommend him to anyone considering RNY surgery.

I'm a Grandma
on June 20, 2008 1:31 am
Well, it has been awhile since I have updated!  I lost 150lbs. the first year.  Today is my 27th wedding anniversary.  My first grandchild was born on Wednesday 6/18/08 weighing in at 6 lbs 8ozs and 20 inches long.  I am so thrilled beyond words.  I am traveling down to Key West  to see him and I don't have the extra weight that would kill me.  I can wear any size large right off the rack, and will be a grandma that will be able to play with her kids.

Two new NSV's (Non Scale Victories)
on December 1, 2007 10:32 am
1.  Just this past week I have started sleeping without my CPAP machine. I started out on a pressure setting of 20.

2.   I am now wearing size 16W and so I tried on my 18 regulars and they fit as well. No more plus size clothing!

I got this surgery to be fit for my Grandkids
on November 1, 2007 7:38 pm

Well It looks like I got this surgery just in time.  My daughter-in-law is expecting a baby, this is the first grandchild for me and I can't be more thrilled.

My twelve months from surgery is April 12 and her due date is July 1st.

I will be going to Key West, Florida to see this grandbaby.

It will be so nice to have this weight off.  More incentive to stick with the program.

Thanks Nancy.

6 Month Check up
on October 13, 2007 3:25 pm
I am finally updating my blog.  I am so bad at recording a journal but I am going to try harder.

I saw my doctor on Friday and received my lab work results.  My protein numbers are falling and I have been told to watch to make sure I am getting enough protein.  I honestly thought I was, I adverage between 80 and 100 grams of protein a day.  I went on vacation right before I had my lab work done and maybe my protein fell short then, I hope that was the problem, I guess we will see what my 9 month labs hold.

In addition to my protein levels dropping my Vitmain D levels also dropped and I had to add 1,000 ICU's of Vitiman D to my daily intake.

My iron is still on the low end but it did raise from a 15 to a 16 so that is just a watch and see right now.

All my other levels came out normal so I am very pleased with that.

I have also lost 106 pounds in six months so that is going great as well.

Please feel free to PM me if I can ever answer or be of any assistance to anyone.
