Surgeon Testimonial

Muhammad A. Jawad, M.D.
My first impression was one of respect. here was a man who began to dedicate his expertise to those who needed him most.

Over time, my impression of him deepened. He was sincere and respectful. He never downplayed my condition and his office catered to our kind.

The office staff is anything but rude. They are so helpful and have a smile always.

I have yet to encounter a dislike of him or his preachings.

Dr. Jawad stresses that we follow the aftercare even if we think it is a waste of time. It is set up to aid us and to teach us how to relearn basic functions of eating.

Yes, he does have a structured aftercare program. He also sets up a "class" where you listen and talk to the dietician, PT and of course himself. He also has his right hand RN talk to us about the surgery, G Tube and care as well.

He was a no shooter straight forward talker about the risks of surgery. make no bones about it he left nothing to chance.

I would rate him a 10 and that is only because the scales do not go higher.

I think both are a match you can not separate. There isn't one without the other.

I noticed the question below about anything negative. Sadly, I do not have anything negative to add. So if this is deemed less informative so be it. But it is the truth and my opinion.

A little late - Kayley's 2 week visit
Well my chunky monkey had her 2 week visit this past 10/2. She gained 7 ozs bringing her to 8lbs 13 ozs and she grew 1/4 in! Getting to be a big girl. I was ok'ed to try her on 1/8th tsp. of barley cereal in her bottle. Let's hope this helps her sleep better.

All in all she is doing well and growing nicely. Her head grew 4 cm since birth so she is now 14cm. :)

Her sisters got their flu shots that same day. Not fun when you are the only parent. oy........ But they are doing well too. Next visit Kayley gets the shots. I am so not looking forward to that!

39 weeks 2 days - Happy Birthday Kayley Olena!
on September 22, 2008 6:32 pm
Well I was 39 weeks and 2 days when "little" Kayley made her appearance. On the 16th I went to my OB appt. as usual with my 2 yr old daughter. Just for a routine check - so I thought. First they couldn't detect Kay's heartbeat with the doppler. Then the midwife came in and used the ultrasound. There was Kay - her heart beating just fine. So the midwife tried to stimulate her. No movement. She then said when a baby acts like this it means time to come out. Mind you I had been ready to have her for the last 2 weeks. So she said she was calling ahead to the hospital to get me a bed and to go there now. I said do I have time to drop off my daughter and pickup my hubby? She looked at me like I was crazy and said nooooooo. So I made plans for my girlfriend too get my hubby and take Erin until my parents could get here.

I was admitted by 11am and in a birthing room by noon. Pitocin was started off we were off to the races. I was 3cm and 50% when admitted. It was a long wait for me to get to 6cm and 80% effaced. That was at midnight. Kay was still at a -1 station. I told them I was informed she had a big head and was afraid she could not engage. They said let's wait and see. I had my epidural and all was well.

By 330am I was fully dilated and effaced. Imagine my surprise. She was at a +2 station. I told then I thought I could push so we tried and I was doing so well that the doctor was called. It took 10 pushes and 45 minutes for me to have her. I had a 1 degree tear and now a beautiful little girl!

MFM 38 week appt
on September 9, 2008 1:59 pm
Well little Miss Kayley is guesstimated to be 7lbs 10ozs now. Oy! I am still 2cm dilated but 50% effaced. So some progress is going on. I did pass mucous plug today soI hope things speed along. Afterall she is my third.

I have had some tightness in my pelvic area. All this is new since for my other 2 my water broke heralding that I needed to get into the hospital. So I am considered a new mom with this one. Tomorrow I see my OB for my weekly visit. Hope that when I am checked they tell me I am at least 4cm!!!!!!!

31 weeks 3 days OB appt.
on July 24, 2008 6:51 pm
Well all in all a good appt. My BP was 96 over 64 and my weight was 217 lbs. So I gained only 15 lbs this entire pregnancy thus far. Very good I think. The nurse midwife thinks I am going to get to 37 weeks and deliver then like I did my Erin. I would be very happy at that. Baby Kayley measures in at 32 weeks gestation. and her heart rate was 152 BPM. She is looking really good and moves so much! I am amazed at how much I feel now that I have lost over 15 lbs.

On a bad note, I have yet another bladder infection.Number 4 to be exact this pregnancy. Oy, although the doctor's say it can happen the first 3 I had no idea. No symptoms. This one however I had the classic symptoms. So now I am on antibiotics (suspension of course). Hoping this is the last of them.

29 weeks at Maternal Fetal Medicine
on July 8, 2008 11:19 am
Well I had my 29 week appt. today and all went well. We are happy to say she is still a she. :) I gained 13 lbs for the whole pregnancy thus far. Not too bad. My calcium needs to be upped. Unfortunately I malabsorb my nutrients due to gastric bypass. So I guess I have to add more Tums to my list.

Kayley is measuring on target though the perinatalogist says she is in th 40% for size. So a little small but nothing to worry about. She was beautiful on the ultrasound. I long to hold her but can wait the 8 more weeks til she is full term. My next appointment with them is Sept. 8th. Unless of course I deliver then. lol

As for me my blood pressure was awesome and my sugars have been the best ever. Tomorrow I see my regular OB for a belly measure. Wishing I did not have to go though......

My Story

My life has always been a series of ups and downs. Including my weight. Each year I look at pictures I can see the rapid fluctuations since kindergarten. No one is to blame. Not even me at that age. But then I got older... and should have been wiser.
