HUGS!
I Lost My Toddler! I woke up this morning and weighed myself. I have lost 25 pounds since the day of surgery! That's about the size of my toddler! Amazing!
Well, I have been home for almost a week now. I am as weak as a sickly kitten some of the time, so I take two naps daily. The first week I was home, I was spoiled and had family with me every day, to watch the kids and do laundry This week, I had to bite the bullet and ask for help outside the family, which was hard for me.
The lady was referred to me by one of the moms at my son's school, so I feel lucky. She worked today and has been lovely. I think she is puzzled at the lack of help I actully need. Just escorting us to school so I don't need to lift my toddler, lifting him into bed and wtaching them both while I nap, etc. She practically begged me to do some laundry and dishes. Who am I to argue, right?
All is well, except this strange food thing! Imagine being able to eat about 15-20 bites of food a day total, but no more than 2-4 bites at each meal. AND you can't just chug something, even water, to drink, or else you get full quick, and you don't want to waste valuable tummy real estate on water this early out. You want to spend it on protein FIRST, then water, then pills.
Don't get me wrong, no one sold me a bill of goods on this surgery. I knew EXACTLY what I was getting into. I knew that by getting this surgery I was medicalizing my health for the future. I was going to have to take vitamin and protein supplements, get regular labwork done and exercise. But as always, knowing something is far different than living it. The "living it" is challenging right now, since my tummy is so sore and tiny from surgery.
For the newbies who want to know these things (which I was early on), here is what I am eating at this stage, 2.5 weeks out from my DS:
Breakfast:
8 oz of water
peanut butter and jelly in a bowl
Snack:
5 oz hot cocoa with 1/2 Jay Robb chocolate prrotein powder packet mixed in it
Lunch:
8 oz water with Crystal Light Pink lemonade
4 tablespoons of egg salad
Snack:
6 oz water with Crystal Light Pink lemonade
Dinner:
8 oz of water
piece of sausage and cheese pizza, minus the crust
More water, sipped throughout the day to equal 64 ounces total.
It's not exactly what the doctor ordered, but according to people on OH who have actually lived this, I am actually doing okay. It's near impossible to get everything in, this early out. In a few weeks, I will be closer to my doc's goals and I am okay with that.
In a couple of days, I will finish my Cipro and will have room to add a multivitamin back in my life. I know that sounds awful, but I have limited space and I am cramming two antidepressants, two Cipros, two potassiums daily now. I still need to add a D, so let's pray for my tummy to heal and grow so I can get everything in! Ah, heck, if we're praying, let's pray for me to get off antidepressants altogether! Now THAT would be great!

I am currently pre-op, my surgery is Friday but I may have asuggeston to you about your protein. I have tried adding Beneprotein to my crystal light for added protein everytime I drink. It has 7 grams and is unflavored, you ca add it to almost anything ( except OJ that was bad) Now I haven't tried Unjury yet but I have been told their unflavored works just as well and it has 20 grams of protein in it. Best of luck. Tonya
