Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I was over weight since I was about 9 yrs old. On and off diets through my teen years and into my adult life which I am now 53 yrs old. I had my bariatric surgery on Oct. 2007 and weighed 233 lbs. It is now January 2008 and I am now weighing in from 120.5 - 124.0. I hit my 100 lb loss at 9 1/2 months. I had alot of health issues. High blood pressure on 3 pills a day and it was still high, full blown fybromyalgia, arthritas and border line diabetic.

I'm still thin
posted on 3/13/10 12:15 pm
Hi Everyone -  It is now 3 yrs 5 mos since my WLS  and I am still pro-active in what I feed my body.   I measure all may food, continue to read lables, go to group meetings, and still go every 6 mos. for follow-ups.   I've had the last of my plastic surgeries in October 2009.  Again, all went well and everything looks great.

I recenty completed the OH Leader sessions and hope to start my own groups in town.  There are alot of people that I know who has had either the band or bypass surgery and really don't want to travel to far to attend groups.  So, once I know what I am doing, I intended on setting up for group meetings.

My weight has stablized now,  I am 5'2 and my weight  ranges between 129lbs - 135lbs.  I weigh myself daily to keep in check.  This is something I've always done even when I was heavy.  The only difference now is I'm liking the numbers I see. :)

This is a life long change and in order to keep my weight off I work at it everyday.  After all, gastric bypass is ONLY a tool.  We must all work that tool to the best of our ability.   No one can do this 100% we all have "bad" days but in our case on  the "bad" days we have a reminder that what we just ate or drank my have a consequence.  Will we do it again?   Probably, but it does keep us in check and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Hope you are all doing well.
Wishing you the best

Niecie
