That thwumping sound is your switch siblings pushing you gently over this road bump in your post-op journey. Sorry you're experiencing this problem, Lynn Bee ... I've heard of it happening to DSers but it is rare ... Guess you're the lucky one, huh? As soon as the problem is over, you should be a-okay and back on the boards being the gentle yet powerful supporter we so appreciate. In the meantime, accept our hugs, love and powerful thoughts to get you through.

Sweetie, I am so sorry to hear of your on-going problems and having to be hospitalized. Hopefully, they'll do what needs to be done to fix you right up, and then you can get on with enjoying your DS! Sending loving thoughts your way! Hope you feel better soon!

I had LBL and BL on August 11. The first week of recovery has been really rough, but I am working on it. I used doctor Capella in Ramsey NJ and like him. I will update more in the future.

SC Diet Information
on April 27, 2008 5:17 am
Info on SCD:

There are several SCD cookbooks available and my mom  has helped me so much by making me lots of food from them.
Nut Yogurt
Ready-baked SCD foods from digestive wellness (the pb cookies and almond chews are great)
Ready baked foods from SCD Bakery (the flatbread is awesome)

SCD
Recipe websites: The pb brownies, almond candy, ginger cookies, and pancakes are awesome.
SCD
PecanBread
It is a great diet for anyone at goal who is having DHR or Gas problems to follow.  I have to restrict veggies, fruits, and the SCD legal cheeses others can eat, but many people can also eat those SCD legal foods with no problem.

Just in the interest of giving pre-ops a balanced perspective on the possible outcomes after WLS: I am almost 2 years post op. I AM ALWAYS fighting with myself about what I can and cannot eat, but I do my best because of how sick I get when I eat something off plan.

I take antibiotics every day. I take lomitil every day. I take expensive probiotics and home-made nut yogurt every day. I have had numerous colonoscopies and many other tests. I have cycled through many types of meds. After nearly 1.5 years of being very sick every day I have finally found a method that keeps me from being really ill: I can only eat certain SCD Diet foods (the specific carbohydrate diet designed for crohn's patients). My whole diet is almond and other nut flours, honey, meat of many kinds, nuts, coconut oil, and yogurt I make myself from nuts. Every day. At 2 years out. If I go overboard on my "I can have a single bite per day" (wine, rum, farmer's cheese, certain fruits and veggies) I can be sick all day. If I eat anything else I can be sick for days. I am still trying to heal my bottom issues which developed during this 1.5 years of awfulness.

Once again this is not the norm at all. I have found a way to be OK by being very careful and taking meds. My severe insulin resistance is gone. I am a size 8. My joints feel better. My cholesterol is lower. I have had many wonderful benefits from the DS for which I am supremely grateful. But I think that it is worthwhile for me to occasionally post my experience so pre-ops can see that not every post-op DSer can eat with abandon and only have a little gas as a consequence.

I am slowly improving as long as I am very careful. Things are good!

good month
on March 10, 2008 11:23 am
I have had a good month.
I am down to 3 vancomycin pills per day instead of 4.
The SCD diet with modifications is working well for me.
I will post more later, but it looks like things are going well.

I am now on vancomycin for about the last month and I have had a few good days. I am hoping things are turning around for me.
