Welcome to Ninie's spot

Well 1st, thanks for coming to my spot. Take off your shoes and visit for a while!
I had my gastric done 6/29/09 in Santa Barbara California, and it has been a challenge! I started off at 263 b4 surgery. I didn't have this done for looks (which most people think) I had it done for health. After watching my grandmother die of diabetes related illnesses, I told myself I didn't want to go down the same road she did. I started dieting and it was a hit and miss with just about everything I tired. I finally switched my primary dr, and he talked me into getting the gastric. So here I am 3 months later and 38 lbs lighter!
It has been hard, frustrating and I have had my share of bitter moments. Often questioning myself if this was the right thing for me to do, but I know I couldn't have lost the weight with out surgery. Good thing I have a great family, friends who love me and a mother that encourages me to be the best me and keep moving forward. I couldn't have done this with out them. I'm glad that now I have OH! An other family that understands my struggles, weaknesses, and celebrates my joys. Thank you all for your positive and encouraging words!
I look forward to meeting new friends, and watching each other shrink into new better and healthier people!
