Surgeon Testimonial

Howard Lederer
I finally got to meet with my surgeon on June 5,09.People say first impressions mean a lot, and I immediatley liked Dr.Lederer.What I liked the most was he didn't sugar coat anything, and he made sure to point out that, there can be risks with the surgery, as well as with anyother surgery.I also liked that he didn't mind answering everyones questions,no matter what the topic was.His staff is great also,i'd definatley recommened someone to him.

First off, i'd like to thank you for stopping by and going through my journey with me.This has been one of the hardest decisions i've had to make in my entire life. I've found out that if I put GOD first anything and everything is possible.  WHAT GOD HAS FOR ME IS FOR ME.

My Story

My name is Desiree Alexander, i'm a house wife with 4 children, ages 18,17,16, and 3. yes I said 3.I first noticed my weight was on blast when I was in 8th grade and my mom took me to get a graduation dress and I wore a size 18, with high school coming I rushed to a scale, and I weighed 187 pounds. My mom brushed it off saying "EVERYONE IN OUR FAMILY IS PLUS SIZE", but at the time I was not accepting it. I decided to start jogging because we lived directly across from my mother's high school, which was soon to be my high school, I decided to take advantage of the track that was always open to the public. What I didn't realize was, while I was loosing weight, I was tearing down my knees.I just took some asprin back then and called it a day, because I was in a 13 by the time school started.Over the years i've continued, to exercise to loose weight, and I never went to get my knees checked out. When I did go I found out that I had PATTELAR TRACKING DISORDER. Which means that my knees are off track and they can collapse at anytime.Right now I can't RUN,JOG, BICYCLE,CARDIO IS OUT OF THE QUESTION, and that is a extremely important part of exercising.I had a left knee replacement in OCT'08.Right now my primary physcian is saying i'll have to get it redone because the weight is not allowing it to heal correctly. Then I still need to get my right knee done as well.Which is why my doc recomended me for the GBP surgery. I've been going through the process since January 12,09. I've passed all my requirements, as far as the dietician, physc eval, etc. I actually met with my surgeon on the 5th of June.I have 7 to 10 business days to wait for my insurance company to accept or deny me.So you should hear from me by June 25th, with my surgery date.
