09-18-08  I saw my new PCP, loved her!  It felt like I was sitting & talking to one of my friends.  She was very down to Earth, very comfortable with her.  We discussed WLS, she understands & is willing to help me.  Now, I need to lose 24#. My insurance requires me to lose 10% of my body weight.  My ins does not state that I have to be seen 6 mths, supervised diet by MD.  It says my DR must provide proff of an attempt at weight loss, & that attempt has to be within the last 2 years.  I started going through my bank records & found lots of Weight Watchers debits to my account.  I wonder if this will count towards the attempt or if I still have to see the MD x6 mths?  Oh well, don't know now, but set up an appt to see her again in another month.  Took my horrible before pics today.  Hopefully I will be fortunate enough to have the surgery, and one day I will be able to look at those & see how far I've come.  I have actually decided to go with Dr. Drake Bellanger in Baton Rouge.  I know someone who has had her RNY with him & have been able to find lots of positive comments about him.  I registered with his office & filled out a very lengthy health history questionaire.  Hopefully his office will be more prompt at contacting me.   I'm so ready to more socially active!  Well that's it for now.  By the way, I didn't go to the seminar tonight that they had in Houma, since I've decided not to go with them.  I'm going to wait & go to Dr. Bellanger's seminar.  Well, that's it for now.  If anyone is reading this & has any thoughts please let me know. Thanks, Michelle.

9-14-08 Ready to get started on this journey!  I have a dr's appt. with my pcp this week (Wednesday).  Also, I plan on attending a seminar thar Surgical Weight Management is putting on Thursday.  I currently am on 2 different cholesterol meds.  My fasting blood sugars have been a little elevated,  I'm going to ask my dr. to do a 3 hr gtt.  My boyfriend tells me I've really been snoring up a storm,  have even woke myself up a few times, making a nose like a pig!  Maybe I need a sleep study, also.  I forgot to mention that this is a new MD that I'm seeing.  After having my gallbladder removed in January, I decided I need to have a real physical & start taking care of myself.  I knew my cholesterol was real high, but always said I'm going to just lose the weight!  Didn't want to kill my liver. Yes, I am a nurse & do know better.  Did I mention Dr's & nurses make the worst patients? lol.  Anyway,  the dr. I began seeing as my pcp has moved, so I'm seeing another one in the same practice.  I think she'll be great.  Prior to January, my pcp was a Dr.  I had worked for like 10 years, whose health is also failing.  Time to move on.  If anyone is reading this, I live in Louisiana, but work for a hospital, whose corporate hospital is out of Tennesse.  I have Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Tennesee.  Wondering how they are at approving people?  I did find out it is a covered procedure.  My BMI is high enough, and I may have a couple new co-morbidities after my next dr's appt.
