J.K. Champion M.D. F.A.C.S
Dr. Champion & his staff are all wonderful. I would recommend him to anyone. From the very start they all made me feel very comfortable. One of his nurses, Kathy, was so great & I really bonded with her from the beginning. Dr. Champion himself is very professional & really knows what is best. I have the upmost respect for him. His skills are unquestionable & his aftercare program is one not only very detailed & structured, but you really can feel that you have made this life long change with him & his staff right beside you. I researched a number of surgeons before making my choice & I am SO HAPPY with my choice. Between his staff & the wonderful support group I feel as though I have an extended family.

**Something to consider when choosing a surgeon: I have already mentioned Dr. Champion's aftercare program, but it really is something everyone should look into when choosing a surgeon. For instance here are some examples of what I feel set Dr. Champion & Williams out from the rest: 2 monthly support group meetings, an online support group meeting ran by Dr. Champion himself, A certified personal trainer that holds weekly exercise classes free of charge for post op patients, special events & parties for post op patients (like health fairs), a monthly newsletter with common concerns & questions being addressed, & an open forum with the office via telephone or email. It may sound as if I "over brag" about Dr. Champion, but I am just always impressed & amazed by him. Being a nurse I have been around many doctors & surgeons in my time & I have NEVER seen one that takes his patients so seriously and I just think that deserves extra recognition.**

  • Parenting - Expecting twins-amazed @ how it changes everything-Nothing is more important

    Your information intrigued me. I noticed you had Dr. Champion as your Surgeon. I understand he is truly excellent. However, my insurance doesn't cover the surgery in any way, shape, or form. I noticed that you didn't have insurance at the time of your surgery. May I be brazen and ask how the surgery was paid for if no insurance was involved. According to Dr. Champion's office, the surgery is very expensive. Very. I'm desperately trying to determine a way to have the surgery myself. The Insurance Commissioner's office in the State of Georgia won't help me. I do not have the cash. So I am seeking a solution. I'm wondering what your solution was to not having insurance to cover this life saving procedure. Thanks so much. Trish

    Well, it’s official! You’re on the losing side. The trumpets are blaring, the cymbals are crashing and the drums are drumming – all for YOU! I hope that all went well for you! You’ve been out of surgery now almost 2 months – YIPPIE!!! Your journey will have moments to “pause” – I’d like to impart some words of wisdom for when it does occur - remember these wise words whispered by Confucius – “It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop.” Be patient. You didn’t put it on over night, it won’t come off over night (DARN IT!)… RNY 10/31/03 – down 82 pounds!!! Good luck!
