You should be on the flip side now and I hope it all went as planned. I am still waiting to see my doctor. Lots of luck

I had my original RNY in September, 2001 (11 years ago).  My weight was a little over 400 lbs when I had that original surgery.  I lost over 200 lbs getting down to 198.  THis was the happiest I had been in years.  I have NEVER regretting having my original surgery as it gave me my life back.  SInce 2001 my life has had several twists and turns, as most everyone's does.  My husband who was my primary surgery support person died in December 2008 at the age of 52. This has been tough and I went from being depressed to drinking/partying.....losing weight....having a new relationship that is not good for me....gaining weight.  Now I weigh 282 lbs and am miserable with myself.  I also have a large hernia and mesh graph (from my hernia repair done in 2005) and will be having surgery to repair that in a few weeks.  FOrtunately I am also having revision of my RNY at the same time.  I feel I am getting a second chance on life and am so very thankful for that.  I am going into this with a different attitude, different outlook, etc  I know that I also have to make changes in my behaviors to include eating.  I need to care about ME for a change.  As a nurse for over 20 years I have also cared about everyone else.....my relationships seem to always drain me....I am changing that.  I not only plan to lose weight but I also plan on losing my co-dependent behavior.  To any of you planning 1st time surgery......go for it but remember that is also takes work on your part....no sodas, no sweets, etc.  Don't make the same mistakes I made......use this site as an encouragement, comfort, but also use the experiences of others to make yours successful.  I would be very happy to talk to or message with anyone.
