Surgeon Testimonial

Christopher Kowalski, M.D., FACS
My first impression of Dr. Kowalski was that he was professional and dedicated to the success of his bariatric weight-loss patients. He was extremely thorough. I had several consultations and classes to attend before receiving the go-ahead. My impression of Dr. Kowalski only improved over time. His office staff are so incredibly loving and professional. Future patients under this Dr.'s care should know that he is good, exceptional even, and practices evidenced-based medicine! Aftercare is stressed throughout the lifetime following bariatric surgery and he does have a structured aftercare program which is strongly emphasized. Surgery risks were discussed at length prior to the procedure, and consistently afterwards. I would rate him and his office staff 10 stars at least....or 100! While I was in the hospital, he came to see me all 3 days I was in-patient, and changed my dressings to the abdomen!!! His surgical competence and bedside manner were both commendable bigtime!!!!!

Hello everyone!

I am scheduled for Roux-en-Y weight-loss surgery here on July 28, 2010. I currently stand 5"8 and weigh an astonishing 326 lbs. I have associating comorbidities as a result of the obesity index. But I have a doctor who is thorough and serious. Hotels around the areas where he practices are familiar with his work...so he must be pretty good. So we'll see!

And the Journey Begins
on August 23, 2010 3:41 pm
Hello fellow weight-loss friends and members. I have had my gastric bypass Roux-En-Y laporoscopic surgery. Even while in the hospital with pain, I silently thanked God for the love He had in answering this prayer for me. I had been wanting to do this for some time and now I will finally become healthy.  The nurses at Shawnee Mission Medical Center on 3 north, were simply incredible, loving, professionals who managed my pain which was minimal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go nurses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My Dr., Dr. Christopher Kowalski was just A-One all of the way as are the lovely and caring office staff of the Kansas City  Bariatric Center; http://www.kcbariatric.com/.  They are so excited for their patients from start to finish which I believe helps patients to realize their weight-loss goals.
For the first 3 weeks post-op, I felt weak and light-headed. But it passed. I am feeling less fatigued these days as I am nearly 1 month post-op. I now walk 30 minutes a day and have lost at least 30 pounds so far. I hope that I can lose even more next month. I want this weight gone like yesterday, although being consistent, compliant, and patient are the keys to success with this type of weight-loss adventure.

My Story

You know:

I really don't have anything too much different to say than anyone else. We are all here to share our struggles with weight-loss.  I have tried weight watchers, Phen-Fen, Phentermine, Hydorxycut, weight-loss teas, exercise...no results. Now, with the Phen-Fen I lost 75 lbs only to gain it all back which was between 1999 and 2005. I now weigh 329lbs. I am miserable with osteoarthritis, anemia, lethargy, and hypertension. Shucks, I just plain don't feel good most of the time and it takes hours after I wake up to resume the energy to go about daily tasks. I hate being overweight. I am scheduled for a ROUX-EN-Y gastric bypass surgery here on July 28, 2010. I am praying that God just help me concentrate and focus so that I can realize outstanding results. I will keep you all posted and blessings and success to us all as we embark on an avenue towards renewed health and self reinvention.
