Greetings and Salutations!  I am just starting a journey to health and weight loss that will be long, but well worth the effort.  I hope with these blogs and updates that some of you will want to take the journey with me.  As the wise man once said, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

A Little Bit of Awesome
on February 27, 2010 2:18 am
I have had my three month check up and all I can say is that I feel awesome.  I have lost over eighty pound and I feel great.  Dr. Stewart was impressed by my weight loss and he said that everything was great.  I have been cleared for working out with weights so I am going to tone up some of the flabbyness that I still have.  I have told several co-workers that are looking into weight loss about Dr. Stewart and all that I have achieved but the proof in the pudding is seeing how well I have done.  The DS has truly saved my life.

Doing good.
on January 22, 2010 1:47 am
I am coming up on my two month surgiversary and I am doing great.  I am 8 lbs. away from having lost 25% of my excess weight.  I can't believe that I am doing so well.  All of the people that I work with are so impressed and I even have talked to some people about having the surgery done themselves.  I did the surgery for me but if I can help one person on their journey then I will be even happier.  I said it once and I will say it again, I wish that I had this surgery years ago.

Back to work
on January 12, 2010 7:49 pm
I finally went back to work tonight and I feel so out of it.  I have been gone for six weeks and I don't even feel like I used to work here.  I am in a daze and I seem just to be going through the motions.  I hope that it will get better as I go on.  I love my job and I can't wait to get back in the swing of things.  Got to get back to work so I will say Ta-Ta for Now.

I'm so tired at times
on January 1, 2010 7:59 am
I know that it will get better but it seems like I am the Energizer Bunny for about four hours and then I have no energy for about two or three hours and then I can go again.  I know that it will get better but I have to go back to work in about a week but I am scared.  I have to work twelve hours a day and I can't work half days.  I know my co-workers will help but I hope that it will get better soon.  We will see soon.  TTFN.

Eating too fast
on December 14, 2009 3:25 pm
I am now over two weeks post op and even though I practiced it before surgery, I find myself eating too fast.  My meal as, as small as they are, only take ten minutes when they should take at least 30.  I am trying to slow down but bad habits are hard to break.  I will keep trying because it causes intense pain if I eat too much too fast.  It feels like someone has punched me in the chest.  I will work at it and it will become second nature because it has to.

My Story

I am a 41 year old(as of this posting) nurse that is over four hundred pounds.  I have been overweight as long as I can remember.  Because of my weight, the kids that I hung around with gave me a variety of names that hurt me more that the surgery will.  After I got my first job, my weight really ballooned up. I gained over two hundred pounds over the last twenty years. I have married and my wife says that I look good to her no matter what I weigh.  The reason I want the surgery is because I don't feel comfortable in my own skin.  I hurt all of the time and I don't have any energy.  Some people I know think that I am rushing into this but, I have been thinking about having this surgery for several years and I finally decided to take the plunge.  I want to loose back down to around 205 and I want to try to get of insulin.  In the words of my old Scout Master, "If it is to be, It is up to me."  Here's hoping for the best.
