Started Full Liquids!!

Jul 30, 2008

I started Phase Two - Full Liquids. I'm feeling much better already. Just a touch more energy. And my stomach is thanking me too. I'm doing well getting in my water too, not enough water is what caused my nausea. If the pouch gets dry, it gets angry  I got my drainage  tube out!!! THANK GOD for that!!! My mom and I are going to start water walking again next week.  I'm ready to hop in that water now! I'll add some pictures too. I'm gonna have to take a few new shots since the 22 lb loss since surgery!!!

I'm home, and doing fine.

I got home yesterday afternoon. Things went very well. No complications at all. I'm very sore, but feeling just fine. I have had only one bout with nausea. That passed very quickly with a little burp.  I'll add some pictures later. I'm pretty sleepy as is expected with the pain meds. I get my drain out on Wednesday. That will be a relief!

$1000 for a C-PAP Machine!?!?!

Jul 10, 2008

I set up my appt. to be seen by the Respiratory Therapist  yesterday. She will be coming this afternoon.  Not looking forward to using this thing at all. I felt like I was suffocating for about a half hour while hooked to that thing during the sleep study.  I did get used to it, somewhat, but I slept really light.  When I got home that day, I took a shower, and fell asleep for 6 hours. I'm hoping that won't continue once I'm on it at home. Wish me luck...I'm gonna need it.

Sleep Study Results

Jul 02, 2008

The results from my sleep study showed that I not only have sleep Apnea, but I have SEVERE Sleep apnea. I don't exactly understand how this could be since I do not have any of the signs of sleep apnea other than snoring. I am not overly tired during the day, I do not take naps because I'm exhausted...I just don't understand. During the sleep study you have to remain on your back or on your side. I sleep on my stomach...NEVER on my back. On Saturday I get to do another sleep study with my lovely new C-pap machine   OH JOY!

Update: The nurse gave me an explanation about this sleep apnea business. I don't stop breathing like some do...I have moments of Hypopnea (shallow breathing), and my oxygen level dropped to 89-90%. This is the explanation the Doctor should have given me right? I now understand!!
