My Story

My story...well, I was always a "tall" kid and even a "round" baby as my mom puts it! I think I was 5' tall in 3rd grade and weighed 100 pounds, compared to my 70 pound, 4'6" friends!  I was about 5'8" and 200 pounds by the time I was in the 8th grade...In high school I decided to start exercising more regularly and eating healthily--and I lost over 50 pounds in about 6 months.  I maintained my weight at 150-160 pounds for about 7 years....at age 22 I graduated from college and got married the following year (to the love of my life!) During my first year of marriage, I became pregnant and at age 25 gave birth to a daughter! Now jump ahead....11 years later and 3 more kids later (all girls by the way!) and here I am! My max weight when pregnant with daughter #3 was 290 lbs.  I decided last spring to have Lap-Band surgery.  I was 284 pre -surgery diet and then 270 the day of surgery.  I had my surgery on July 16, 2009.  So here I am...in the fight of my life to take off this weight! I underestimated how hard it would still be --even with the band.  So, I am losing, slowly but surely.  My current weight is 257 and I would like to be back to 150-160 as my goal weight.  So I have about 100 pounds to go! So, please, any lap banders out there-share your wisdom with me! I feel like I am losing too slowly. If I am being honest, I know I could be following the rules better.  SO I am here to have accountability and support! Looking forward to the journey!
