3.5 years post op!
on January 3, 2012 12:16 pm
Whoa!! It's been forever....almost forgot I had this. I remember I used to be on here all day everyday lol! Anyway, I'm 3.5 years post op! Having RNY was the best decision I ever made. No complications, nothing went wrong, still in great health. I recently gained about 15 lbs after having a rough few months. My current weight is 208 and I believe my lowest weight was 191. I'm going to be taking the next few months to get back to 191 and then hopefully down to 175 which has always been my goal weight. Anyway, I doubt anyone remembers me on here and it seems that a lot of the people on my friends list have been inactive as well, but that's just a little update!

It's Been a Year Already!!!
on July 1, 2009 5:56 am
Today is my one year surgiversary!!! I truly thank God that I decided to go through with surgery. My family was fearful of it and had many doubts, but I am sooooo glad that I did not let their feelings about it rub off on me. Now that it's a year later, they are all so happy that I did it and I am too.  I have lost almost 90lbs since surgery and about 110lbs from my highest weight. I only have about 15-20 more pounds to lose and I'll be all set.

I have not had any problems with food at all. I can eat almost anything which is a blessing and a curse at the same time. And, I don't dump either. I have not been hitting the gym as hard as I should but hopefully I will be able to step that up some more. My sister is giving me her treadmill, so I hope to start running on that as well.

As far as plastic surgery goes, I wanted to have a few things done like my arms, stomach, and possibly my chest. But, I have not had children yet and I want to start a family within the next 5-7 years. So, that means that I probably won't be able to do my stomach or chest, and the arms I don't really feel like paying for right now. But we'll see how that goes.

All in all, I am happier and healthier and I am loving life. God has been soooo good to me and I won't complain! (I'm going to post some new pics at some point)

9 Months
on April 1, 2009 12:43 pm
Not much to talk about today. I am still at a stall, I've pretty much been the same weight since the end of January (I'm like 194 right now according to my scale at home). That's another thing, I noticed that my scale at home is wrong!! This is the same scale that I have been using since surgery but it's like a five pound difference than the scale at the doctor's office . So that means that my century card and Onderland celebration were premature, but who cares, I'm going to continue to go by what my home scale says.  I saw my NUT last week and she assured me that I am not done losing weight. I'm just anxious to see that scale move down again. I'm going to go on a low carb diet starting next week and hopefully that will get the scale moving again.

8 Months!
on March 4, 2009 5:59 am
I'm eight months out as of March 1st and down approx 80lbs (275lbs on surgery day, currently around 195lbs). I'm not sure if I am at a stall or if my weight loss has really slowed way down. I'm thinking that it is just a stall and the scale will begin to move down again. In the past 4 or 5 weeks I have lost only about 3lbs. However,  I'm not complaining and I fully expect this stall to break sometime soon.

I need to do better though, I eat way to many carbs and I eat too many sweets. No cake or cookies and stuff like that, but I do have a piece (or two) of candy everyday. I just can't shake that sweet tooth. I need to start replacing the carbs in my meals with vegetables, which I am doing a little better at, but I need to improve even more. It would really help If I would sit down and plan my meals better and do less mindless eating.

As far as exercise, I am doing pretty good. I am up to 3 or 4 days a week instead of the 1 or 2 days I was doing. I usually do the eliptical for 35-45 minutes (between 2.5 and 3.5 miles). I also started a kickboxing class on Thursday nights which is great. I am going to start weigh training with my brother a couple times a week as well.

Overall, things are good. I feel great, my vitamin levels are good, and I no longer have sleep apnea. I have definitely been getting more double takes, and looks from the fellas, but still not dating yet, still looking for "the one". It will happen eventually, so I'm trying not to think about or worry about it too much, but it is on my mind a lot. Right now I am trying to focus on getting to goal (around 160lbs) by my birthday on August 31st and figuring out what the next step in my career is going to be and when I should go on to graduate school. Till next time!!!

My Story

I have been overweight for most of my life, ever since about 7 or 8. I am 24 now, and I think it's about time I get this weight thing under control. I really need a fresh start. I'm still undecided between the LapBand and RNY, but I think that either will be a great tool to help me change my life. The highest my weight has ever been was 298lbs last year, I am 5'8". I am now down to 275! My weight goal is somewhere between 150 - 160lbs.
