I chose Dr Aceves to perform my vertical sleeve. After all my research here and on other sites, I found myself most comfortable with his stats and the fact that he has never had a leak reassured me that he was the right choice.
He and Dr Campos have made this life changing experience a more comfortable one for me. Both are very professional and personable. Always visiting and inquiring as to how I was doing.
Ernesto the driver was so kind and made the drive there and back to the airport entertaining. The co-ordinating staff Yolanda was awesome. She helped with all the pre-tests before the actual surgery day.
I did have a bit of trouble communicating with the nursing staff because my spanish sucks but overall, got through what and how I was feeling and what I needed.
The hospital was impeccably clean and comfortable even for my spouse who accompanied me. He told me the cafeteria food was great.
An easy but detailed list of instructions were given to me prior to and after the operation. I'd rate his nursing staff a 9 out of 10 and Dr Aceves' surgical experience and bedside manner a 10/10.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I spent thousands upon thousand of dollars jumping from one weight loss method to another until I read up on weight loss surgery. Initially I was reading up on lap-bands but then stumbled onto this site and started reading on VSG's. That was it. My mind made up, I did everything in my power to come up with the money to get this surgery and change my life forever. I was sleeved Aug 30, 2010 and it was the best decision I ever made. I'll NEVER be fat again. :)

My Story

I've been overweight for most of my life.
I've tried everything ...supervised and unsupervised  you can think of to reach my goal. I think the only thing I haven't tried is Herbal Magic but now there are a couple of new places that I'm conviced it'd be a waste of money to try. It was never easy to lose but I can't remember it being this difficult now that I'm 40. I must have really damaged my metabolism because NOTHING is working now.

Looking into finding a surgeon and exploring my weight loss options. Planning to pay out of pocket because OHIP (in Canada) doesn't see me as "obese" enough. I have a BMI of 37 but I don't have diabetis or high blood pressure.
May quite possibly travel to Mexico due to Ontario's wait times and high cost.
