Surgeon Testimonial

Benjamin, Tanner
So far Dr. Tanner has been great. I have only seen him twice and I won't see him again untill my surgery. He is a very nice guy. Easy to talk to and very patient. The staff at University Surgical Associates have been great also.

My name is Pam.  I have been considering WLS for a couple of years but for one reason or another I have yet to follow through. I am an Army wife of almost 14 years and I have 2 boys ages 11 and 5.  I also have 2 girls (actually my shih-tzus, Daisy and Lola).  I have to have some estrogen in the house to balance out the testosterone!!  Right now I am living in Fort Knox Ky and my husband is Korea.  I hope to have my surgery date for late February,2008.

Still waiting
on April 5, 2008 3:17 pm
Well I go friday to see Dr. Tanner and get my surgery date.  Nothing else going on.  I really want to lose some weight  before surgery but I just can't get myself to do it.  The boys have been on spring break so I haven't done anything all week.  Did go down to my parents for part of the week but the rest has been spent sitting at home.  Very boring person.  I am so bored.  I have spent the past 16 months just sitting on my ass waiting for something to happen.  I want to los the weight and get my life back.  Oh I will quit whining. it does n't change anything.  Just keeps my hands occupied.  Will be back with a date soon.

I AM APPROVED
on March 28, 2008 3:54 pm
Okay, so I have never bothered to blog here.  I love to read everybody elses though.  So today is really a big day.  It was the day I have been looking forward to for a year.  I started my 6 months required diet last March.  And today I got approved for my bypass. It is so surreal.  It is really just another day, but, Wow!  I really am going to get my surgery.  This past year has really taught me patience.  It took so many baby steps to get where I am today.  Just a matter of weeks, in fact, by May I will be losing weight.  Freakin' A.

My Story

I really don't ever remember a day that I was not fat.  I remember wearing those hideous polyester pants to school because it was the only thing that would fit me.  Going to the doctor because I was sick and my Mom and me being chewed out because of my size.  The first time I went on a diet I think I was 8 years old..My doctor sent me to a nutritionist who helped me and my mom make a menu.  My mom tried really hard to help me.  but she was a great county cook.  My favorite meal when I go home is meatloaf, pinto beans and cornbread.  Yummy.  so I was never going to lose weight and keep it off living with her.  I loved her cooking too much.  Still do.  Everytime I go home we have a special breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy.  That gravy is better than any other gravy in the world.  Guess why.  It has sausage and bacon grease in it.  Yep it is literally to die for.  Oh I am going to miss that stuff big time.  So
I know that I weighed 117 the summer before 5th grade because I had meningitis and was in the hospital and still couldn't lose weight.  I gained steadily through the years and did every stupid diet there is.
Around 220 in high school. 240 in college. Got down to 200 before I got married when I was 23.  Boy did it pile on after I had my sons.  I have average 5-10 lbs. ayear since.  Now here I sit at 309 and miserable.  I started looking into WLS in 2004 and got nowhere with insurance and started pursuing it again last year.  Now here in March of 2008, I am almost there.  I really can't wait to get my life back.
