Surgeon Testimonial

Jeffrey Lord, M.D.
I am a 44 year old lady with many health issues. Dr. Lord went through my medical records and told me I was one of the sickest patients that he had ever seen. He also told me that if I did not have the gastric bypass, I would probably not be here in ten years. While that was hard to hear, I needed to hear it. I am glad that Dr. Lord was honest with me.
His seminar provided a lot of valuable information. I was really excited to meet him. I found him to be very confident in his ability. I also thought he had a wealth of knowledge. I felt very safe under his care. The day of my surgery, he came in and talked to my husband and me before I went into to the operation room. His staff was great!!
One thing that I really appreciated about his program was the classes that he requires you to take before having the surgery. I still have every handout and the booklet they was given to me. I go back and read them ever so often. I feel that I was well prepared before surgery as to what it would be like at the time of surgery and life afterwards. I have spoken with many people that have had the gastric bypass from different states. I have also discovered that not all had the classes like I had. Those patients that did not have the classes well have not done as well as I have done.
I just had my checkup with Dr. Lord and according to his scales I have lost 91 lbs in 6 1/2 months. I am very happy with my progress thus far. I firmly believe that Dr. Lord has a talent and a gift in the area of weight loss surgery. He is one of the best!!! Well really the best in my book! I tell everyone about him. Everywhere I go I talk to someone about this surgery and how it and Dr. Lord has changed my life!
I thank God above for allowing me to be successful and getting through this surgery. I also thank God for allowing me to meet and become a patient of Dr. Lord's.
Dr. Lord is the kind of person that tells it just like it is. I trust him competely. When a doctor tells you to check him out that says something about him. I honestly would recommend him to anyone!
Gastric bypass surgery is a serious operation and one thing for sure you better know your doctor. You should feel comfortable and safe under their care. Thast is how I felt about Dr. Lord. The surgery is a TOOL not a fix all!!! You have to do your part and follow the rules comepetely. When I had questions, his office staff, his asst. and Dr. Lord has answered them in t timely manner. His staff is the best in the business. The Scared Heart Hospital is top notch. I would never want to go any other place. They have a whole floor dedicated to just weight loss surgery patients. They know what they are doing!
I wish you the best of luck in your journey. My journey is still in the beginning stages and it will continue for the rest of my life. You have to look at this surgery as a new beginning and make the changes and never go back to what you used to do. If you do you will regain it all back like some of my friends have in other states. This is why I feel that Dr. Lord's program is the best because he prepares you for what is ahead of you for the rest of your life. Good luck! God bless you along the way. Thanks Dr. Lord for being so honest and great at your job!!!!

First Appointment
on July 26, 2010 2:59 pm
July the 23rd was finally here and I could not wait to see Dr. Lord. I was so ready to get this show on the road because of my health reasons. I am a diabetic with problems with the following: eyes, brain (strokes), stomach, kidneys, and arthritis just to name a few all caused by diabetes. I am so ready to get healthier and get my life back. July 23rd was the day it would start for me.

I arrived full of hope and so eager to talk with Dr. Lord, however, I was not prepared for his words. "I will not preform the lap band on you!" Wow! I was in shock. I thought the lap band would be the answer for me. He did say he would do the gastric bypass though. He told me I was the sickest 43 year old he had ever seen I just wanted to cry. I knew I was sick but hearing those words just took me back. He also said that if I did not have the surgery I would probably die within ten years. Now I really was in shock after those words.

My husband Gregg and I left his office with total silence between us. My heart felt so heavy. I just thought to myself " I do not want to die now! I want to spend more time with my husband and family!" Later that day we ate dinner at Red Lobster and I really did not want to eat anything. I felt quilty for eating grilled fish and salad. I drank water and we called and told my parents what Dr. Lord had told us. I made Gregg tell them becuase I could not bring myself to say the words to them. I called my best friend Angie and Gregg told her.

I plan on watching everything I eat and do from this day forward. I am planning to have the surgery and follow Dr, Lords advice. I have reserched this Doctor and have found he is one of the best if not the best around. His words were hard to swallow but they were needed and I am glad he tells it just like it really is.

I am getting blood work and other tests out of the way soon and then I will be on the road to the person I am on the inside. Pray for me as I travel this road I know it will be hard but I will have God with me and Dr. Lord not to mention my family and friends. I look forward to updating this soon. Have a great one.
