Surgeon TestimonialLaurence K. Tanaka M.D.Met with Dr. Tanaka and he was professional and reassuring. What a big contrast from Dr. Horgan!!!rnrnHe is a man of few words but I trust him totally. I was so at ease when I had my surgery it surprised me.

Hello everyone.....Here is my story. I have been overweight every since I can remember as a child. I have always loved myself and thought I was a part of the BBW so I don't need surgery for self esteem issues.
My mother had weightloss surgery and she was 4'11 439 lbs and got down to 128 lbs and would go back and forth 10 lbs and that's 8 years after surgery.
However, after 4 kids, and I am almost 30 I think it's time to get thin before the Diabetes, and other health issues set in. I was approved for weightloss surgery about 5 years ago but find out I was pregnant 3 days before the psychic eval and by the time I was ready to go for surgery again things had changed, so I decided to lose weight on my own. That worked until I got married and pregnant again so now that I am done having children, it's time to get even sexier! I have a husband that everyone seem to think is cute but shoot he hasn't seen nothing yet cause the skinny me is on the way!
My family is supportive because we have been thru this twice before with my mom and sister, so everything should be good. Anyways, I begin my journey now....Hopefully by my 30th B-day I will be slim and trim are at least damn near close to it!
Words of Encouragement on November 24, 2011 7:57 am
There have been many things going on with me lately, however the best thing I know for sure is that I am encouraging more people that not. I am a slow loser and I am proud of it!! No I did not follow every thing to the tee but I do most part while staying human and true to myself.
Every time I see someone that I know or know that I had this surgery the first comment they make is "damn girl you look good!" Then they comment on how the tale of the regaining of the weight at 2 years out do not apply to me. Because of this, my aunt had surgery last month and I will be assisting my friends and little sister on this journey. Like I told them, we may have started at different times, but we will cross the finish line together!
Also, for some reason all these young men keep coming at me. I think it's funny because I have always had male attention even as a big girl, but now it's like wow! What the heck am I going to with this 22 year old!! Well for now just have a little fun. It was funny to hear him say he don't like "fluffy" girls. I must have laughed real hard because I said boo I am still a big girl and will always be a big girl til the day I die! I guess it's hard for both of us to believe that. I sometimes forget I am a little big girl and for most new folks can't believe I weighed damn near 300 lbs! I was looking at some of my old pictures from my highest weight and I was like wow that ain't me!
On that note, everyone stay encouraged and even if you do stray from your diet plans, just remember it's not the end of the road just pick yourself up and continue.
Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Meeting with the Plastic surgery doctor and other... on November 24, 2011 7:32 am
Hey y'all!! Yesterday I did meet with the plastic surgeon my PCP referred me to and I don't particularly care for his attitude, and that's not just because I didn't get the answer I want. By the way, I am still losing weight!! I said I was a slow loser but for some reason my weight is melting off even better 2 years out. He came in and said get undressed and yeah well it's going to be hard to get your HMO to pay for a panni. I said well actually I wanted you to take a look at the breast also because they are super to severe. He says yeah well yes they are and you will be needing a lift with an implant, however the insurance is not going to want to approve the panni let alone the breast. So let's submit for the panni and see how that goes.
Now I am good with that, however I am thinking if the insurance will pay for the panni and it's major surgery and I have been thru 4 c-sections (not sure how they compare) wouldn't it just make since to maybe see if he will let me pay the difference for a full tummy tuck?
Still glad to have at least have gone to see that surgeon and now I am going to go to several different surgeons to see what type of estimates I can get and maybe start saving and planning for one surgery at a time starting with these "old lady boobs" as one of my male friends says!
Have a Happy Turkey Day everyone and don't eat too much!

Status Updates on November 8, 2011 1:17 pm
Hey y'all got 2 weeks before I go see the plastic surgeon that my PCP referred me to. Also greater news. Finally did new labs. My Hemoglobin A1C is finally down and I no longer in the borderline diabetic category!! Yay and surprisingly, my iron and everything else is within normal limits!! I have been taking a lot of different multivitamins lately. I can only assume that the increase in my iron levels are in fact the relations to my higher A1C rates.
My weight is someone where between 160 and 163 lately. I think I would like to stay right here because everyone keep commenting on how skinny I look! I think I look great too and I can feel my freakin bones and my ass hurts like hell all the damn time!!
I have been having a lot of financial and hubby/men problems so I am sure this all contributes to the shit. I separated from the husband...again. I am so freaking tired of that ish it ain't funny! I have always been a big flirt but wow I still got it, but what da hell am I going to do with a 22 year old!!
Oh tried on a size 8 and that bitch fit!! LOL I was really happy about that but I know I definitely need some plastics so I can wear a damn bikini!! Oh signed my sister and 2 friends up for surgery. They said they were going to let me go first so now they see it's safe. My aunt just had surgery to help with her diabetes because she was a little one, and I am really glad my lil sis is interested because we use to share clothes and now I am sharing with my 13.5 year old!!
Anyways, my PS appointment is in 2 weeks and I will be sure to keep everyone posted on that.
God Bless!

I think I "need" not just "want" Plastics! on October 24, 2011 8:29 pm
Ok, today I contacted my PCP and requested a "referral" to a plastic surgeon to see what they would recommend. I am trying to do it under my HMO.
Ok....I am super excited!! My PCP says he will give me the needed referral to see a plastic surgeon!!! I know this doesn't mean that I will be approved for plastic but it means I am on my way!!!!! I told him my body looks like a 72 year old and that it's due to health disease/deformity of obesity. He said I don't mind considering your body has been thru major changes with weight loss! Wish me luck cause I am in there!! Yay
Shoot if I could at least get my stomach and boobs done I think I would be ok. I mean wishful thinking would be a full body lift but I know that's unlikely!!!

2 year update on October 23, 2011 3:17 pm
Well I have finally made it back on here to update. Been going thru a lot, mentally, physically, and emotionally; however I do not feel they have anything to do with my surgery.
I have always acknowledged that I was a slow loser. I would like to say I am still losing weight. I would really like to invest in some plastics!!!!
Overall I am still happy with the surgery and the results. Although I am still considered "overweight." I am happy!

My Story
Well it's a plain and simple story but I will tell it another day when I have time to write a book! It's not quite short and definitely not as long as it could have been!
Here is a shorter version of “my story.” I am 3rd generation super morbidly obese. I am 29 years old, about 5’1 and 273 lbs (March 9, 2009) and somewhat active as I work full time, go to school full time and have 4 small children...yes I am super busy! I will have to say my highest weight was in December 2007 when I was 7.5 months pregnant, I weighed in at 292 lbs and I was freaking out! Well I had gestational diabetes and delivered an 11 lb 22 inch baby at 36 weeks not because the baby was in immediate danger but because, I say, he didn’t have much room to move! However, I was really happy about the safe and early delivery via C-section!!!
I was considered the fat active kid in all the neighborhoods we moved in. I played all the sports everyone else played and you better not had picked me last because needless to say, the other team lost because I had to out shine everyone else being the fat kid in the group. I can’t really say that I was tormented and teased throughout my life because one thing everyone knew about me was that if you started clowning, you had better brought it all because once again needless to say they were the ones leaving and crying not me! So I guess you can say that I am pretty much confident in myself no matter what size or skin I am in.
I remember going on my first round of diets when I was like 3-5 years old. In 2nd grade I weighed in at 133 I remember it because they always did our weight in front of the class at school and for some reason the teachers thought it would be nice to weigh everyone in front of everyone else by announcing our weights for the charts out loud. Then in 6th grade I weighed about 193 lbs and for most of my high school years I was between 190-215, then my Junior/Senior year I lost a lot of weight (188 lb) to only gain it back from my 1st pregnancy which I made it to my then highest weight of 264 lbs! After I had my daughter whom was 10.9 lbs no diabetes they pumped me up with Deprovera….let me tell you had I known rapid weight gain was a condition I would have never let them force it on me, I mean I was married who needed birth control…well I was treated like all other young unwed mothers and it’s not nice.
After reaching 281 lbs the clinic where I got my shots at was like 20 more lbs and we are recommending that you stop taking this shot. I was like wtf, why wait until I have gained a total of 100 lbs before taking me off of the shot! Well I took myself off of it and then lost 40 lbs without dieting at all, and then I got pregnant again gained only 14 lbs for that pregnancy and lost another 30 lbs after having the baby. So now I am looking good right, I can continue losing right, heck no. As I mentioned before my mother had to have WLS to loss enough weight to be healthy so I decided if dieting didn’t work out WLS would be my last result. So in 2002 after having my 2nd child I decided that it was time to get WLS because I can lose the weight but not enough to be healthy and I can’t maintain it without some kind of outside help. I was approved for the surgery by my PCP and the surgeon but something happened right before my last required appointment before I had to wait for a surgery date.....I found I was pregnant for the 3rd time 3 days before that appointment! After speaking to a few people that had WLS and then gotten pregnant, I decided to make sure I was done having kids because who wants to lose weight and then gain it back!
So here I am in 2009 one year post partum and I so ready to get this over with........I am again starting over with a different PCP, Insurance, and life span. I am tired and eager to get this over with, and hopefully with the records of me going back and forth to Jenny Craig, Watch Watchers, Medifast, Acai berry pills, WuYui weight loss, tea, Green tea pills, etc the insurance company see that I am ready to be healthy before I actually get dehabilitating health issues.
