Surgeon Testimonial

Laurence K. Tanaka M.D.
Met with Dr. Tanaka and he was professional and reassuring. What a big contrast from Dr. Horgan!!!rnrnHe is a man of few words but I trust him totally. I was so at ease when I had my surgery it surprised me.

Just thinking
on August 31, 2009 11:03 pm
Ya know, I have been very relaxed compared to the other weeks in this year. I am really looking forward to surgery and sincerely believe everything is going to go as planned. I am trying to make sure all the bills are paid up and that everyone else has been squared away. I only talk to the hubby once a week and we are still flip flopping on what we are going to do about us. Personally I am ready to throw in the towel on him! My birthday is coming up this Sunday (9/6/09) and I will be 30. My mother in law is still holding on although I think her days are numbered due to the stage of cancer she is in. Hopefully she is still around after I have surgery and I think I may surprise the hubby and take his sons to see him. I don't know for sure about that because his family can't stand me and I don't think I want to waste my extra change on that. Anyways, the 28th will be here before I know it.

Got a damn date!!!!
on August 28, 2009 6:50 pm
Hot damn...after I left work my celly ring and who could it be....the surgeon's office giving me some instructions for a surgery date of 09/08/09!! Say what!! Yep folks I got a date!! Then I asked her if I could post pone the date until 9/28/09 so that it wouldn't be a hardship on the family because they have to watch the kids. She says you have a tentative date of 9/28/09 and it will only change if the OR is not available, but she will let me know if that's the case by Monday. Should they not have it available I did tell her I will work it out for the 8th but that leaves little or no time to plan around the kids! Well I am on my way now! I got a date and everything.

Praise God!

Chill out to me!!
on August 28, 2009 1:51 pm
I am sitting here tripping and happy at the same time. I have an approval and it seems like it has been days and the surgeon office hasn't called yet! I know it's just me because I just found out I was approved maybe 2-3 hours ago. I know it doesn't take that long for them to fax over a yes! Then I am getting nervous as hell thinking about the surgery. I keep telling myself you have had 4 c-sections and 2 of those were high risk pregnancies due to your weight so you should make it! But then the little red person comes in and says yeah you did, but what if your body won't make it thru.....I know I am going too darn far with it but it is in the back of my mind. Well if it does happen I am sorry to my kids and family but I had to at least try it, and I at least I will have made it to my 30th birthday which is coming up next weekend! I have an 11.5 year old that can't wait for us to take those dance classes because she just reminded me the other day "I thought you said when you have your surgery we are going to take salsa class.." that girl always seems to amaze me, she just lucky she got her dad's weight jeans because my jeans are shot to hell!

I have learned that the liquid only diet helps with shrinking my insides before surgery and I want to make sure I do my damnest to shrink them because I don't want to have to get a blood transfusion if I don't need one! Anyways I figured if I blogged this it would work with keeping my excitement at bay so I won't be calling the freakin surgeon's office!

Hot damn...I am approved...finally!
on August 28, 2009 10:22 am
Move over y'all cause here I come! I am happy, excited, nervous and any other emotion you can think of right now. I just called my managed care group this morning and hot damn she said she was just looking in my chart for my phone number to call and advise me that I have been approved!!! Now I am just waiting for them to call me back with a surgery date! My approval is good from 8/19/09 until 11/17/09! I was told that the doctor still have some dates in September. I am so excited! I have won the insurance battle.....all I can say is....what's next!

No more getting discouraged because so many others are being approved and have had surgery or have already gotten dates and I am still fighting. All I can say is wow...now I am nervous about the whole thing.

Thank you guys for your support and it will be needed even more as I continue this life long journey!

I am jumping up and down over here at the job and my supervisor just asked me to see if I can schedule after my co worker comes back from vacation...yeah right

One step closer...or not!
on August 24, 2009 11:07 am
I called Pacific Bariatric to check the status of my file and low and behold my letter of medical necessity was faxed to my managed care group on 08/19/09! So I called my managed care group with the old surgeon and I was just told my case is in special handling. Well it's probably because managed care keep saying that it's not a covered benefit in my plan and then I sent over all the VSG denial letters that says we will authorize surgery but pick one that's covered! I am so excited to at least be this far, even if I do end up appealing I still like being this far. Plus I was told since my Pacific Bariatric appointment was for second opinion and the surgeon in my group refuses to do RNY that my insurance has to find me a surgeon that does RNY. I definitely don't want the previous surgeon to touch me since he was quite rude!!
