Surgeon Testimonial

Thomas Lavin, M.D.
My first impression was wow he is young and cute. Is he old enough to be doing this operation. I found him to be a super surgeon. His staff is very friendly but not obese. Individuals who have been obese seem to relate better. I have found nothing I dislike about him. Anyone who is considering him don't hesitate to move forward. He has a very structured program which emphises all the risks of surgery. I would rate him a 10 out of 10. If I didn't have the bandages to prove I had surgery I wouldn't know I had it. I was blessed to have found him.

Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
Have been dieting all my life. As I got older, I got bigger. When I went over 200lbs on my 5'2" frame I got scared into acting drastically.
I'm a 45 yr old mother of three.  I have been overweight all my life but have just recently gone over 200lbs.  I could say it is because of pre-menapause or the fact that I am a caregiver for a terminally ill parent, but what ever the reason, its time to act.  I am addicted to carbs and rarely eat meat.  Bread, pasta, sweets and soda are my main staple.  I heard about the sleeve about a month ago and feel so blessed to have found obesityhelp.com.  Based on all the information I have obtained I am not a good canidate for the Band thus leaving me a SLEEVSTER...smile.  I enjoy walking although I rarely walk.  I am hoping walking will be my new best friend since I am giving up my old best friend (Carbs).  I have never been one to make excuses and like to be direct and be address accordingly.  Fat is fat and thats my truth!   Although I consider myself a happy individual I know life can be so much better with a healthier me.  Last but not least, I am so touched by the wonderful individuals who share themselves to help others like me on obesityhelp.com

TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY
on August 26, 2010 6:39 am

IT HAS BEEN TWO YEARS SINCE I HAD MY SLEEVE AND I A SO HAPPY.  I CAN BARELY REMEMBER MY LIFE AS A OVER WEIGHT NO HOPE IN SIGHT INDIVIDUAL.  NOW I CANT FIND ENOUGH TO DO OR SEE.

I WAS ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES, I HAD NO PROBLEMS ATALL FROM DAY 1.  I ONLY PLATUDED ONCE AND WAS BLESSED WITH WONDERFUL SLEEVE SISTERS TO ENCOURAGE ME ALONG THE WAY.

I STARTED OUT AT 207 AND NOW WEIGH 132.  I HAVE BEEN AT 132 FOR A YEAR NOW.  I GAIN A FEW THEN LOSE THEM.  I RECOMMEND THE SLEEVE TO ANYONE WHO HAS LOST CONTROL OF THEIR LIVES.  WHEN A BAG OF POTATOE CHIPS AND A BUCKET OF ICE CREAM  HAS BECOME YOUR BESTFRIEND YOU HAVE HIT ROCK BOTTOM.  TIME FOR A SERIOUS CHANGE WHETHER IT IS WEIGHT WATCHERS OR THE SLEEVE.............CHANGE!!!

LIFE IS GOOD AND I FEEL GREAT.  I RECENTLY HAD A TUMMY TUCK AND FEEL 20 YEARS YOUNGER.  MY ONLY REGRET IS I SHOULD HAVE DONE IT SOONER.

MUCH LOVE TO ALL AND THIS SITE HAS BEEN AWESOME FOR ME.  I WILL POST PICS SOONEST.

11th Month Surgiversary!!!
on July 27, 2009 9:03 am
Hard to believe it has been 11 months!!!!  It seems like yesterday I was doubting my sleeve...:)  It has been and continues to be quit the ride.  I remember thinking I will be happy if I could just get into a size 16, then saying I will never get into a size 12.....or thinking this is it ...I'm not gonna lose anymore weight.  All this and more is part of the amazing journey.  At 11 months I can eat lots more and I can see old patterns trying to return but I also see my sleeve intervening constantly.  I have lost 67 pounds total and tons of inches.  I started at 205 and am currently at 138.  I was a size 18/20 more 20 than 18 and am currently a size 8/10 more 10 than 8....:)  I am truly blessed and would recommend the sleeve to anyone!!!  For me the two most important components to my success or should I say my continued success is protein and exercise!!  Put those two things first and you will SUCCEED!!!!!

10 Month Surgiversary
on June 29, 2009 12:11 pm
My 10 month surgiversary and I feel Super!!!  I lost 3 more pounds that I didn't think I would lose so life is good and my sleeve is still working.  I weigh 140 lbs and can't wait to get into the 130"s.  I believe it will happen!  I am wearing a solid 10 and even some of them are lose.  I revised my goal weight to 131 lbs vice 136 because of my height.  The best part of losing the weight other than the obvious health advantages is being able to go shopping in regular stores and they fit.  The fact that the cloths fit means I fit.  I feel normal and that is something I haven't felt in a long time.  I have to tell you all that I haven't been the model patient but I do try.  I pretty much eat what I want but try to do protein first.  I didn't start excercising regularly until my 7th month.  The one thing I do faithfully is take my vitamins.  The Sleeve worked for me and I feel so blessed!!!!

9 Month Surgiversary
on May 26, 2009 11:30 am
I weigh 143 lbs, 62 pounds gone, and what a ride it has been.  I have 7 pounds to go and I'm not sure if I will make it.  I barely lost anything this month.  I am eating a lot more and barely exercising so I really can't complain.  The carbs are still my worst enemy and my biggest addiction.  I can eat all the things I could eat before the surgery.  I do stop myself for now but I am worried that in a couple more months will I know when to say when?????  Truth be told, I am so happy with this whole process! I will count all 62 blessing and try to always remember how miserable I was at 205 and no hope.  When people ask what I am doing?  I say flat out I had an operation!!!  It wasn't my will power or exercise plan - it was simply my SLEEVE!!!!!!
