Surgeon Testimonial

Eric Hungness
Met Dr. Hungness last April when he led the seminar that I attending at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He did a wonderful presentation. He was available for questions afterward and I was impressed with his personal approach to the participates. His presentation was information and I looked forward to my appointment to start my proceed. I felt I had made a good choice. Followup with Dr. Hungness at the office with my husband. He again was agreeable and knowledgable. My husband had more question which he took the time to answer fully. My husband and I were both impressed by him. Pre-op and Post op, Dr. Hungness and his team were excellent. The day of surgery my husband and sister would with me. They both spoke to him after the surgery. When I arrived to my room they were waiting for me. Both were smiling and happy to let me know that everything had gone well. Dr. Hungness visited soon after and reviewed my surgery with me. I recommend him without reservation. Just saw him yesterday for my post op visit. Things are going well.

approved and waiting
on January 2, 2011 8:16 am
got approval from insurance in October. being the holiday season it was impossible for me to take the 4-6 wks off recommended by NMH.  Retiring in end of February so I decided to wait until then to have my surgery. I was disappointed not to move forward but I feel it will be easier than trying to return to work.  It all happens for a reason. Gives me more time for my mind to be in the right place.

denied by insurance
on July 4, 2010 6:11 am
I had hoped that I had enough documentation for my insurance company but alas.
I have been denied. they want 6 months of supervisor weight loss program before they will approve.
I have planned for October so I will need to wait until the first of next year.
I will have to continue for an additional 3 months with my primary physicain or dietician before they can submit again.
That would be in November which is the holiday season. I won't be able to get the time off that I need so I will wait.
I have lost a few pounds since starting this journey in April so a few more months will be alright. .

continue the path.
on June 13, 2010 7:59 am
have completed by second clzss with dietician. pass the psychologist and saw the surgeon. Paper work being submitted to my insurance company. Hopefully all the information that I collected will be enough for approval. I understand that my insurance company is usually 30 days for a decision. I continue with maintaining or losing some weight. Have done ok for now. Down 8 lbs in 2 months. They started my group on a protine drink a day. I think this is good so that I can experiment and find some successful favors/mixture that I can use pre/post operative. I am grafeful for the suport of my husband and family. Friends are my job are encouraging. some fo them remember that I have lost weight in the past so they don't quite understand why RNY. As I pointed out I have re-gained all my weight back several times so I need a little more help. After a lot of research I feel confident in my decision.

finally at a place
on May 16, 2010 8:36 am
I am finally at a place where I can admit that I need help with obesity. I have weight issues since I was a kid. I have been able to fool myself that I was ok because I didn't have any co-mobidities. I was able to move and go out with friends. I was able to have a successful relationship with my husband and family. But I am not keep up. I can't work in the yard with my husband like I use to. I am always tired. I go to work and pray for a slow day. It is time. I am currently in the Weight Loss Program at Northwestern Memorial in chicago. I am going through the steps to be able to have surgery. I am hoping that this will happen in October. I have arranged for 5 weeks of vacation.
