Hi.  My name is Paul and I had lap-band surgery on 5/3/08.  I've been over-weight for about 30 years.  I grew up in the "French fry" generation and never really paid much attention to my weight or general health.  Then, about eight years ago, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.  I became a very good patient.  I took my meds, watched my carbs and kept my blood sugars low.  But I never really did much about loosing weight.  About two years ago, the meds started to fail.  I was put on new meds and they added to my weight gain.  I put on thirty more pounds in under a year, and my blood sugar levels skyrocketed.  I was then put on insulin.  It was at that point that I realized that I needed to do something.  After careful research, I discovered that

bariatric surgery  had an 87% rate of total reversal of type 2 diabetes.  I set out to have the surgery.  Unfortunately, I discovered that my employer had opted out of any type of bariatric surgery coverage on our health insurance plan.  After careful research, I discovered that I could have the lap-band surgery performed at a safe and accredited hospital in Juarez .  The experience was awesome, and the care was top-notch.  I am now on my way to having the weight I should have, and taking back control of my life.  And since the surgery, I have gotten off of all my diabetic meds and currently have normal blood sugar levels!
