Surgeon Testimonial

Jared Speakman, MD
Dr. Speakman spoke at the intro/community meeting I attended in St. George. He is soft spoken, yet his confidence and knowledge in the procedure is clear. He was very serious during my first office visit (I'm grateful, honest!) it wasn't until the second confirmation visit that he cracked a smile and had some fun with me.

The experience with his staff started out rough and thank goodness the evilness was canned along the way. From that point forward all was wonderful!

Fairly standard fat girl story...I wasn't fat because my stomach was too
big. Born 11+ lbs. into a food loving and food "using" family and followed suit. Was raised to be confident and life loving no matter what my size. In later years I found this to be a blessing I wouldn't give up for the world, but a curse that I allowed to keep me fat and obese. I considered surgery for five years. Not normal for me, I usually make QUICK decisions. I *knew* I had to be ready to do my part of the work before I would go under the knife.

Small realization...
on April 3, 2008 7:51 am
Often I find myself getting cranky because I haven't seen goal and in July it will be two years from my surgery date. Yes, I know it's a journey and yes, I know it takes time and yes, I know I had a f*ton of weight to loose.

I know.

During a visit with my surgeon yesterday he said, "Good job. You've lost 140 some odd pounds and kept it off."

Duh.

I didn't know. Well, I knew, but I didn't let myself go there.

Now I will.

P.S. I am going to start training for a triath-sprint in Sept. That outta take care of a few pounds. lol

Unless I get rid of the 9 lbs. I have put on I cannot sky dive for my 40th in April. I am sad, disappointed, frustrated, disgusted and well...ready to kick it into gear.

What have I been doing?!

*end of rant/pity party/bs/whine*

New day, new outlook! I'm in this to win it!
