6-1/2 Months Out... Down 82 Pounds :)
on May 30, 2009 5:05 am
I had every intention of posting a blog and a photo on May 13th, which was my 6 month surgiversary, but I just didn't get around to it.  Now I am approaching 7 months post-op and I am still seeing results.  For the month of May I have lost 7.5 lbs.  I think this is the first month I have not lost 10 lbs. - but I am ok with it.

As for clothes - I am now in a 14/14w/16 for pants and shorts and a large or x-large top - both depend on the brand and style.  Sizes can vary with different brands........ as I have also discovered with bras!  A "C" cup can vary from one brand to the next.  I don't understand how bra manufacturers can get away with that.  Don't they have the A-B-C system for a reason??  Anyhow... pre-op I was in a 42 DD, now I am a 38/40 C or D - depending on the brand.  I have found Ambrielle at JC Penney to be the best fit with great support to hold the sagging girls up.  I think eventually I will need a boob job.  My upper arms have some sagging skin, but nothing drastic that warrants surgery - I can live with what I have.  So far the thighs and tummy are shrinking nicely, with no sagging skin, wrinkles or flaps.

It seems as though the hair loss is slowing down.  My hairstylist assures me my hair loss has not been bad - of course it seems more drastic to me, especially since my hair was thinning pre-op.  She gives me the best cut for my fine, straight hair and a little "comb-over" in the front, just above the bangs - that is where it has thinned the most.  I take Biotin twice a day and to be honest with you, I have not noticed any change in my nails.  They were always soft and chipped/flaked easily and that has not improved at all.  So I wonder if the Biotin is working or maybe I need to take more.

So that is it for now.  I will try to post some new pics at the 7 month mark.  Happy losing everyone!!

New Person in the Mirror
on May 8, 2009 3:12 am
Ok, I know a lot of WLS patients have body dysmorphia when they lose a lot of weight.  They look in the mirror and still see the same heavy person.  Fortunatey, I don't have that problem.  I was so worried that I would because it is so common after WLS.  But for me, I look in the mirror and I swear I see a skinnier person than I am!  Is that possible?  To see yourself thinner than you actually are?  I'm not complaining here.... I'm relieved.  I see the weight coming off and I like the results.  Now if all WLS patients could see themselves the same way, wouldn't that be great?!
